Sullivan Stapleton! Really happy to see him nab a cover, disappointed by the styling/direction they chose, though.

Could all 3 AUGUSTMAN cover poses be any more cliché?????

Haha, each of the three AugustMan covers features a different tall, white, bearded, Australian actor known more for good looks than for talent/charm, and each is styled in a dark suit with a white/light button-down shirt. The creativity is just astounding.

^^^ No clichés left unturned is clearly what they're going for.

Ha Ha. They just look too redundant, like they were shoton the same day, same place, at the same time.

On another note, shouldn't this thread be broken down a little, and defined?? When I go looking for cover references, it's sometimes hard to find exactly what I'm looking for because ALL are mixed into this one thread. Maybe it should be split up to a GQ Style worldwide, August Man thread, Numero Homme worldwide thread, etc.

I agree the slope in the modeling industry between models are already in a big favor of female models respect to male models so I think that at least here in the forum, in this magazine section, we could actually have a sub-division with men´s magazines and each of them could be presented separately. What do you guys think? Or could the mods do a survey to make sure it´s something appealing for all the members at least?

I would definitely support that.

I support the idea of separation, but only for the major titles. US GQ deserves its own thread, same with what we did for US InStyle. It's surprising to see how a magazine of such prestige and influence only end up in a collated thread beside reprint magazines.

As for the rest of the GQ editions, may it can be placed in a GQ worldwide (incorporating GQ Style) thread? And all other magazines remain in this thread?

In substitution, maybe we could put Numéro Homme (and the rest of its editions), Arena Homme, and Hercules in this thread.

I only support the idea of separate threads if photos are posted, discussion takes place, etc. Do people even post the contents of GQ US aside from the main (usually celebrity) feature? I feel like I don't see much posted from it.

If people are just going to post thumbnails of covers without discussion, editorials, etc. Splitting the threads up just seems like a waste of time.

And yet US Instyle, which now has 2 separate threads for 2 different issues, have threads with no contents, just the cover and the usual celebrity feature. So judging from the way US InStyle threads are, a US GQ monthly thread seems plausible, is it not? And heck, we have indie magazines which have their own thread with just the cover and low quality previews.

As for discussions with GQ covers and contents, it's hard to have a proper discussion because their covers get overshadowed by consecutive posts of different editions of DaMan, August Man +++

I am so sure that a separate thread for Kim's GQ this month would've garnered a lot of comments and discussion from tFS.

I like this idea. It would be better if we could have separate threads for GQ, GQ Style and Numéro & L'Officiel. a lot of their editorials get overlooked because of this thread.

Well, to be honest, I don't think InStyle should have it's own thread either. Unless there are contents from a magazine in general, I really don't think they should get their own thread.

All GQ's comments whould be about what a sl*t Kim Kardashian is and how fashion is dead blah blah blah, ground that's been covered over and OVER, who wants to read that? And how does discussion of larger magazines like GQ get stifled by people posting DaMan covers? I looked at the last page and as far as I can tell two weeks went by with no discussion before those 3 DaMan covers were posted, so what discussion is it interrupting?

I like the idea for a GQ, Esquire and L'Officiel Hommes separate threads, other magazines like Arena Homme+, Fashion for Men, DAMAN, August Man, etc... can be published here... :innocent:

WWD: GQ Editor Jim Nelson seems to share Anna Wintour’s admiration for the reality star, adding, “For me, it was more about how she’s risen above all of it. She’s preserved and elevated herself. In a lot of ways, she and Kanye kind of represent the new American Dream, you know? It’s really interesting.”

Nelson enlisted photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to help re-create “the spirit of Helmut Newton” for the shoot. Asked whether he thinks the issue will be a top seller, he said, “I do know this — it already broke the Internet. We’ll have had the highest month of traffic ever. We broke one record the first day. We broke another record the second day. The third day, we thought it might slow down and so we pulled back a little bit on tech support and our site actually broke for like 20 minutes…which is not something you want to have happen, trust me, but it literally broke the Internet, so we’re thrilled about that.” Nelson said they “encouraged engagement” by rolling out one photo at a time on their web site in order to create “a sense of drama about it.”

Kardashian said she was happy to be on the cover. “GQ is iconic,” she said, adding that the shoot took place shortly after she gave birth to her second child Saint. “When I got the call to do their anniversary cover, the summer issue, I thought, ‘You know what? It’ll be a really good goal to motivate me to [stick to] my diet.”

Moderator Note:

The mods have heard your cries and have agreed to test run the notion of giving a select few menswear magazines their own thread. We'd like to start with both the UK and US editions of GQ, alongside Esquire for the first two months - commencing with the August issues. If the threads do indeed receive more buzz, more debate and editorial content, we will prolong the magazines receiving their very own threads. But if the titles fail to receive less than 10 replies and members are unwilling to post the content from the issues at hand.. we will have no choice but to revert back to posting the covers in this particular thread here.

So.. feel free to give ONLY UK GQ, US GQ and Esquire their very own threads from now on, as trail run. Thanks for the discussion and feedback!
