Are You Ready, Oscar?
The best and worst dressed at the London BAFTAs

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

It’s not the Oscars, it’s not the Globes, it’s not even in Hollywood. But the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) were glammier than the Grammies. The best and worst from London:

Best Dressed

Scarlett Johansson (Prada): She might wow film critics, but we’ve been less than impressed with Ms. Beige Bustier’s style choices. On Sunday she was a horse of the same color (still—the beige!), but it’s hard to go wrong in a satin goddess gown of any sort.

Emma Thompson (Maria Grachvogel): Continuing the 2003 trend of 40-something hotness, Emma was tan, polished, and glam—no “Calendar Girls” for this one yet. Classier than Demi but blonder than Diane, is there a new (middle-aged) babe in town?

Alicia Silverstone (Dior): We don’t really know what she was there for (we heard it was to “present”) but the supervegan sizzled more than imitation bacon, so we’ll stop asking questions.

Honorable Mentions

Naomi Watts: Nic must have hooked her up with one good stylist. We’re waiting for a misstep.

Sofia Coppola (YSL): We don’t have a problem with this last-season YSL. At least it wasn’t Marc Jacobs.

Joely Richardson (Dior): Again, another actress whose day job is suspect, but she always cleans up nice for the photogs.

Worst Dressed

Renee Zellweger (Carolina Herrera): Renee and Carolina seem to be carving out a nice little partnership together, which we would fully support were Renee not wearing so many boring black dresses. Seriously, she’s already worn this black strapless thing to like four other events. Can’t pull the couture over our eyes!

Laura Linney (Bill Blass): We love Laura Linney. She’s funny and sweet and fabulous. But we cannot support her in this Easter outfit. There are no proms after 18.

Thanks igni!

Wow, Naomi and Alicia Silverstone are the only ones dressed decent. The others are rather boring! I am not too crazy about the shredded bottom part of Naomi's dress.

Johnny Depp is fine.

Jude Law looks tired.

Laura Linney makes me sick  . What is that dress? It fits her weirdly at the waist and has such a weird and unflattering cut. The color doesn't help either.

I like what Naomi is wearing
Johnny Depp & Jude Law look good

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnd

que drooling from the ladies (jude law + johnny depp in the same picture)

hahah sorry i had to and you all know you wish you could tackle them both

Thandie Newton, whose dress cheekily revealed her thong :yuk:

Oh dear. And I always thought she was a classy lady. Tsk, tsk.

Let's hope it was just an accident.

I thought so too

I hate the peeking thong, but Thandie Newton is gorgeous.
Naomi Watts looks really good.
Johnny
