The Perfect Tee

I am looking out for perfect t-shirt in black and gray, soft, light, the perfect one!! Suggestions? Price range 0-50 e. ^_^

Not sure what the price would be on these brands, but have you tried Vince or James Perse?

^1+ for James Perse.

I bought some tees at Madewell a while ago and I can recommend those, too. They are super soft and and look really nice.

Believe it or not the most beautifully designed, drapey t-shirt i own, i bought for like $5 dollars at goodwill. the label reads Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker!

I hate that all t-shirts are eather super long or way too shirt.... argh, finding t-shirts is harder than finding perfect pair of jeans.
And I would love to find white t-shirt that is not too sheer.

i agree! they're either those useless super cheap looking way to sheer lets let the world see everything under this white piece of cloth or that grody stiff beefy t-shirt material that does nothing to flatter your shape. i usually just get angry when merely shopping for t-shirts at the thrift store and give up.

i like a scoop neck but not too low and a loose but shapely cut. apparently that's too much to ask cuz i never have any luck even at full price retail stores.

i once dropped $100 on an Eileen Fisher basic black t that was part of my work uniform but i could justify that in my mind since a) the quality is very good with EF in my experience b) i wore this everyday for work c) black is a practical color as opposed to white d) it fit me perfectly.

but I wouldn't spend that much again even with those factor going for the shirt. girl's gotta pay the mortgage. my husband would definitely not understand

Re. scoopneck, how about Uniqlo? I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but they have nice scoopneck tees with a fitted shapely cut. I usually have a black and a white one in my wardrobe.

But personally I'm still looking for more slouchy tees. I don't like Uniqlo slouchy models for some reason, I find them mostly too tent-y or the sleeves strangely unflattering.

Yeah, for me too, more than 50 euros is for me too much to justify on a tee...I've done it before but now I wouldn't either. James Perse is gorgeous but a little too pricey.

the majority of my T's are now eileen fisher...
linen blend...

i have also found some cute ones at uniqlo...
i'm the opposite of melisande...
i prefer uniqlo for the boxier, trendier styles...
they look good on me, and i'd rather pay less for something that i may tire of...
but i have to say, i get compliments on the uniqlo t's...
everyone assumes they are some high end designer thing...
those are best worn alone...

i find the EF ones are great with something structured like a jacket...or a vest...

^ I find Uniqlo T's very short, though I just have a l/s one made of pima cotton. Which one do you have in mind? I am looking for a light grey s/s tee for SS.

do you mean from uniqlo or EF?
there's nothing like the uniqlo ones right now- i got them last summer...
and they are not very basic- cropped, boxy fit and with a drop shoulder...
like i said- fashion-y...
great with shorts or boyfriend jeans or track pants...
but not with skinny bottoms...

and all the EF linen tees are good, imo...
but that fabric isn't great in grey...
it's dyed grey, so there is no heathered effect...
so you wind up with a charcoal grey, or a dove grey - which i like a lot, but might not be what you want...

for basic grey i go old school...
j crew, gap, target, etc...
grey always looks expensive, so it doesn't have to be...
i feel like now is a good time to hit up gap since they just booted that woman, but the stuff she did is probably just arriving now and will be marked down considerably as they make way for a new gap- again!...
...

imho...

Interesting! I will have to check out uniqlos tees the next time I go on holiday! I like short:cool:

I guess Uniqlo is short, yes...but it doesn't bother me.
...and COS, for some reason, is LONG!!!!

Softie, nice tee. That's the style I've tried at Uniqlo and which looked awful on me; I've sadly given up on that style altogether.

^My oldest tee is a "cropped" linen tee from Acne. It looks like a standard length on me:rolleyes:

Thank god for those Scandinavian fits indeed! Being 6ft tall with a disproportionately long torso (at least in my eyes) makes finding tops that are long enough nearly impossible. :sign: I can't even imagine how would I look like in a crop top.

Checked out Uniqlo tees on their website and found nothing that would tickle my fancy. :(

I have a long torso and find the American Apperal t-shirts to be on the long(er) side. Without being to wide, which often is a problem. The quality is also decent.

Has anyone come across any Ts with a moderate scoop hem back?
I'm looking for a back bottom hem scoop and not the top scoop which exposes the back.

I don't like material too flowy as it tends to cling.

I have a couple of random thrift-store t shirt finds which i love but want more colors.

Kinda along the lines of this but long enough to cover the bum but not overly exaggerated scoop which looks silly imo:

Here's another example from Eileen Fisher but I'd want a a more straight-foward,
work out to errands, functional cut ie sans drapey bunchy detailing:
