The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

just what ilaughead said... finishing touches, the way it's sewn... it's probably a bit more complicated, or it takes more time, experience... whatever...

the difference is that instead of having the clothes sewn together in a sweatshop in china, the hire professional seamtresses that work on the pieces individually.

the result is that the garment's stitching is of a better quality (because the person has spent more time on and put a lot of attention to it) and a higher price (because you're paying a person per hour).

i do hope for the love of clothes they remembered to use god quality fabric. couture technic means nothing if the fabric's cheap.

In general, UK shops add on a lot to the prices of American clothes. Eg. Jeans may cost US$150 in the States, and the exact jeans would cost 150 pounds in the UK.

I know!!! It drives me mad. It used to be the same with the EURO until 2 or 3 years ago... I wonder why that is?

The skirt MK is modelling is by The Row. She's so short but she still manages to look so pretty in it!

not too sure if anyone else has posted this but i checked back and didn't see any :flower:

the dress-like use of the tuxedo reminds me of Saint Laurent FW07... which is a bit disapointing... even seems a little obvious

^ I noticed that too, it's a bit blatant.

But it still looks good.

fashionista.com is reporting that mens samples from the row are circulating among editors and retail stores in NY.
:lol::lol::lol:

i dont know if a lot of men would get caught dead in an olsen twin line.

well its not bc its MKA that we wont wear it. Lets see how the men line is before saying anything

Every thing seems to be a copy of some one else's clothes...like said above YSL for example...

such talented designers those olsens

^^ thats unfair. It's like saying that no one can design a white tuxedo-jacket because its been 'done before'.

Plus, Stefano Pilati probably ripped that idea from someone else - so it isn't original in the first place.

And also, I don't find them similar in the first place. I think its just because Ashley is wearing a black top underneath that it makes it similar. The pieces are quite different, construction and design-wise - only the colors are similar.

Sounds interesting....it may actually be good....we'll see

the olsens are ripping off ysl, james perse, rick owens, proenza schouler and dior homme. Mk's white skirt, is a copy of the ones that proenza schouler did for s/s 07. the row's v-neck shirts are a copy of james perse's tees. They have the same long stitch at the back. a JP tee is only 80 bucks. not 350.

At the same time I've seen big designers rip each other off too so it's not exclusive to entry level designers...

i dont think they're ripping off anyone. as kuba01 said, it's merely often a similar garment in the same colour. nothing wrong with taking inspiration from other designers - thats natural.

mega ripoff!
image from fashionista.com comparing the rows tuxedo dress to the ysl tuxedo dress, elizabeth and james to vintage etc.
