The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

she totally pulls it off - which misproves someones theory you have to be really petite to wear it - cos she is def bigger than christina ricci and she looks fabulous in it -

Qow looks stunning on Heidi, I really have been dreaming of that dress since i have seen it. The colour is just amazing.

Wow - it fits Heidi perfectly - and agreed, the color really suits her. I would not have guessed it were a Row dress!

Gwyenth Paltrow wears The Row...in the new US Vogue Plum Sykes writes about her wearing one of their jackets. I wonder if the girls sent it to her, or she actually bought it...

i HATE Plum Sykes with a passion. :yuk: As if that self absorbed little nothing could identify a piece by the row without being aided in the process! phhhh...

any northern california girls out there...
ashley will be hosting a trunkshow for the row's fall 2008 collection at the grocery store in burlingame today...
i was supposed to go to the san francisco show yesterday, but have been in bed for the past few days with a bad cold...:(

oh awesome! Do you know what time it is? And so its not the one in the city but more south?

it's all day, from 11-5, but i'm not sure exactly when ashley will be there...and you have to call to rsvp: 650-348-1372

burlingame is south of san francisco, about 30 min or so...
the address is 311 primrose road...

can someone please explain to me what exactly a trunk show is??!! and why they would be showing the row at a supermarket??!!!!!!!

thanks in advance - karma to come :)

^The Supermarket is a boutique, not "a" supermarket. Also, a trunk show is where a designer does an in-store appearance, to meet with the customers, who get a sneak preview and first dibs on the collection, and discuss and promote their line. A trunk show can be either open invitation or invite-only, depending on the store and the particular line involved. :flower:

the name of the store is "the grocery store"...
it's a boutique in san francisco and burlingame (south of the city) that also sells mike&chris, miu miu, alexander wang, helmut lang, rogan, etc.

a trunkshow, as rochasfile said, is a "preview" of a line/collection to customers before it hits the stores...
you can either pre-order (prepay for) pieces or put your name down and be called when it comes in (usually a few months later)
sometimes the designer or one of the company's representatives is there to answer questions, there can also be an informal fashion show...
since ashley was there, this trunkshow was invite only...you had to call the store to rsvp...
my sa said that you would rsvp for a 30min. time slot...ashley was meeting with customers individually for that time and personally assisting them (as with the trunkshow at forty five ten in dallas earlier)...
which is why i was bummed that i was sick and couldn't go...

^That would be so great! Shame you couldnt go, would have been great to hear about some of the clothing, and how ash was at styling!
Hopefully there will be some more (in the UK!!)

ash seems to do a lot of the trunk shows, the last one she did was in Dallas, I believe.

thanks so much guys for explaining - karma for you both - wow i cant believe people get to have one-on-one time with Ash!! and I cant believe you missed out cos you were sick :( I think I would have gone even if I had the plague :)
So one more question - you said it was invite only? but then you came on here and said for people to go? so can you ring up and kind of invite yourself sort of thing? or ask to be invited? Sorry for my lack of understanding.
