The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

^ You are not the only one with that opinion, Bidwell! I have been silently observing this thread for awhile now and I still haven't seen anything remarkable.

Well the pieces are really not supposed to be remarkable, that is not the point or direction of the line. They aim at offering the designer customer a set of basics that can act as the glue for their wardrobe. As pretentious as a $200+ tee shirt is, the quality, cut and fit make up for the basicness of the idea. I will not argue that this is a groundbreaking or totally unique idea for a line, but I think that it is beautifully executed, and fills and incredible hole in the marketplace. Self-induldgent? Yes, a little, but still relavent and important to today's fashion landscape.

couldn't have said it better myself MJ.

I also tried asking this in the girls' thread but didn't get a response; in this months NYLON there is mention of this being the The Row's 5th season
how is that possible?

ignorant question but... i always thought the olsens only had a line for kids?
did they design all the outfits posted in this thread? im really confused...

I guess its because there are 3 "seasons" in a year... fall/winter, spring/summer & resort.

i will post pics when i get home

i was not amazed by the line when i saw pictures but seeing them in person and trying them on definitely makes a difference. the shirts are SO soft and the way they hang is amazing. i tried on several other jackets and blazers by nicholas and contemplated getting one but the minute i tried on the row's jacket i dropped everything else and went with the row. it's so classic and i know that i will be wearing it for years to come. the cut is beautiful, it's very warm, and beautiful. it feels so great on.

Sounds amazing! I still havent seen the collection in real life! I know when i do, i will feel compelled to buy the whole collection! Cant wait to see the pics, it is the jackets and the blazers which look they they have been done the best from pics, etc.

I'm curious what "hole" does this line fulfill? Are you saying no one else makes high quality basics?

I think one of the reasons the Olsens created this line is the reason that Ash mentioned in a few interviews -The Row is a bit of Ash's pet project. She really wanted to make a line that she (and her friends) would wear. Undoubtly, Ash does wear a lot of the clothes from the row, esp. the tees and cardigans in her everyday life.

Personally, I'm probably not going to pay that much for a sheer tee, but I'm all for free market and having more choices. If the clothes sell, then the line would continue as long as the Olsens want it to. But if, as some of you have said here, that the line doesn't fill a 'hole', it will make a loss, and the Olsens will eventually just stop the line.

Sounds good, I cant wait for your pics!

I bought the basic white modal t-shirt today. It's so soft as mentioned many times here. I know I'll be wearing it for a long time

i wore my hoodie and recommend anyone getting it if they are thinking about it!
it is super soft (once again). a beautiful silk jersey. the hood is beautiful on and can be worn in the evening as a chic top. scrunched up or minidress
and i would like to stress for anyone not having seen the line in real life to see and touch it and possibly try something on before they categorize it as a simple celeb line ;)

augustus,
i wish i was as good as others at posting modelling pics.
dont have a full mirror at home yet believe it or not and to top it off my camera and all my luggage was lost by the airline!!! so for now im camera less
sorry for all to be off topic :flower:

I am planning on calling to order some pieces (primarily tees), but I don't know what size I should get in the basic tees. If I am a US 4-6, what size do you guys that own the tees recommend I purchase? TIA! :flower:

^ Depends on what kind of fit you want rochas :) For the sort of loose fit like in your avatar I would say a L.

just on a side note (and I don't know where you can find them) but I have a helmut lang shirt which is very sheer, but is made with the same kind of couture construction (the seam in the back) which fits incredibly well and is very similar to The Row's shirts, but at a slightly lower price range (my long sleeve v-neck retailed for $175)....it's worth looking into if you're a fan of these shirts!
