The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

^As much as I hate "overpaying" for things, I am almost grateful that the line is priced where it is, as otherwise, too many MK&A fans instantly flocking to the line would ruin its prestige (not the word I'm looking for, but I can't think of another word to say 'the general sense/feel' of the collection). Does that make sense? Sorry if I sound a little elitist, but I think fashion is a rather elitist pursuit in itself...

I actually am surprised to hear it looked better on Ashley...she seems far more petite than Christina and I would think it would really hang on her and be too long.

The dress actually looked incredible on Ash and works amazingly with her curves...also looks good on Lauren Hutton.. I agree christina didnt pull it off 100%, she is kind of top heavy then straight down, but i still liked it on her, esp the second shot.

no i understand. you don't sound elitist at all. there would be a bunch of thirteen year old girls wearing the line if it wasnt priced the way it is. they DID have a line for girls at walmart. if it wasnt so expensive, the walmart audience would just transfer over to this line. it would be horrible!

i've looked through the entire thread...twice  ... and still haven't seen Ashley in the green. Does anyone have a picture?

well I finally manged to get round to Harvey Nick's have a look for you guys and must say it's really not anything to write home about. They had one tiny rail of clothes, and none of it that attractive. They had two of the bandage dresses/skirts and they were priced at 655 pounds reduced down to 355 (or something quite similar) one of the grey l/s viscos (or modal? don't know....) tops, a couple of the batwing tops (which i really did not like) and one red really sheer top. And that was pretty much it.

edit to add: the white top (with the seam running down the back) they had a couple of and they were regularly 175 pounds reduced down to 125.

well, the appeal of these clothes is to a smaller audience simply because high street consumers do not necessarily demand for high-end fabrication and fabrics when it comes to clothing purchases... what they are asking for is what everyone else (in this niche) is... you naturally end up with these prices at limited distribution (and thus, small production and fabric quantities) and a certain focus on quality.

I think that distinction was always very much kept in mind when they designed their own clothing range... not to aim at the same customer that they are already addressing with their licensing deals.

Justlooking, I do not think there are pics - the people who saw it are buyers so when they went to meet with MKA, Ashley had tried on the dress :)

Some recent shots of other celebs wearing the Row.

Sarah Jessica Parker in the leather jacket...
*edited--pics not working*

Gwenyth Paltrow in the cashmere funnel neck jacket (she has actually been living in it all Fall/Winter)...

^I'm surprised to see SJP wearing The Row, I remember reading something about her not being a big fan of them, or Mary Kate in particular.

the pics aren't showing up...
here's sjp in the row jacket...

I can't really see what Gwyneth is wearing....SJP looks good. I can't tell if it's the way the jacket is hitting her thigh but the hem looks really clunky and heavy.

Well I don't think you need to be a fan of the girls in order to be appreciate the line!
