id never really heard of the 'scene' before, but having had a mooch at photos i doubt ill be looking any further for inspiration

fair enough, 'scenesters' choose to dress in a certain manner, but if it is non-contrived, then why must they congregate together? if they are not trying to be pretentious why do they frequent particular clubs and associate with similarly dressed folk?

whilst looking at the photographs i was reminded of a friend of mine whose mother owned a punk boutique back in the 70s, as she often borrows clothes leftover in the attic. she has a very individual style and would probably fit into the 'scene,' however her personality dictates her friendships, not her desire for noteriety

these people are as precocious and vacuous as the bubblegum bimbos they are attempting to counter
