The Supermodels of the 1980s

Kirsten Allen. I liked her look despite her angular jawline.

Isabelle Townsend was on the covers and in Ralph Lauren ads from 1983 until 1989 or so. Then she suddenly disappeared. I don't know what happened to her. She was especially beautiful and noble looking in black and white Ralph Lauren ads.

I have never heard of Carine...but if you can a picture of her I can go through my collection and see if I have any Carine pictures.

The only photos I could find were these two:

Carina Axelsson is the author of the book Nigel, appeared in French Vogue and Marie Claire back in the late 80's early 90's. She is now dating Prince Gustav Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg.

Thank you for your help.

autumn/winter 1987 shows - Ungaro, Scherrer
Highlights from the autumn 1987 Ungaro and Scherrer shows include model Anna Bayle and many others. (I imagine Yasmin Le Bon was in there, but I could not see her for sure.)

It's crazy when you think about. Those runway shows are only twenty years old, but they look like from another planet. Some of the pieces could have easily been shown on this seaon's runway, but they are far and between, the rest is so outrageous, and not in a good way. The biggest difference though, has got to be the way models walked on the runway back then. LMAO, all that twirling and posing. I hope we never go back to that, I much prefer the way it's done now.

Thanks for the videos lavieenrose.

^ I was remarking that myself, all the twirling and stuff. I'm not quite sure what it was intended to communicate to the buying public. How much fun they'd be able to have in the clothes, maybe.

There were several odd design choices shown by the designers back then! Chanel is probably the only collection that might still be able to slip into today's wardrobes effectively, I think.
