i think he's the one to beat period right now. i think nole is playing better now than when he won his first major mainly because of that consistency in his wins, especially over roger and he's beaten rafa now too.....a first for him in a final!

btw, congrats too too xavier and alex dolgopolov for their win over the bryan bros. and subsequent win over roger and stan in the final. that final was a fun one to watch. i really am impressed with dolgopolov. didn't get to see much of him in Oz but his serving and his shot-making are wicked. apparently these two are going to continue playing till after the clay season so i think they're going to be a formidable team in the coming weeks.

huge congrats too to dinara. after some inspiring play and promising results, she's back inside the top 100 at 91(oddly the place where dokic was a couple weeks ago)....she's also been obliged a w/c for miami so let's hope like IW she can make good use of it.

The TMZ celebrity website received a tip that the stolen goods -including at least one the ex-player’s Australian Open trophies and dozens of other from ATP events over his career, would be found at the hospital location.

The 2010 theft included up to 100 trophies and other items, with some found in a city park a few days after the theft was discovered.

Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams, said that he had not bothered to insure any of his goods, since he was unsure of how to put a value on it. But one memorabilia expert valued the missing Aussie Open trophy at 100,000 dollars and up.

American media said that a private investigator working on behalf of Sampras go a tip that the items would be returned. He told police who found the items as promised.

Sampras, who retired in 2002, won 64 ATP titles over his career and held the record for Grant Slam titles until it was broken by Roger Federer.

Do we have a lolwut icon? Also: Pete, sweetie, insure your bazillion dollars worth of irreplaceable trophies next time, 'kay?

Ugh, I can't stand Djokovic. He seems so arrogant, full of himself and showoff. I know he's good and all, but I prefer some humility in them.

BTW, I seem to remember seeing a website where you can see 'live' updates of rankings, since ESPN doesn't update all that often, anybody has any ideas? I'm curious to see if Dolgopolov will be in top 20 or not.

^ He has the same PR as Rafa, what do you expect?

Seriously though, there's nothing humble about Novak. Far from it.

i dunno,i don't think nole has been that arrogant and besides nole has always been a slightly demonstrative personality. i just think when you're on a 21 or 22-match winning streak, won your second major and has beaten both the best players of our era to win your biggest titles,he's extremely confident. trust me,nole,is nowhere near as pompous as he was three years ago and considering how much he struggled last year it's nice to see some confidence in him again. there's more self-belief in the way he's playing.

^ There's a difference between confidence and egocentrism. Nole has always been self-centered and will continue to be that way. Now that he's on an unbeaten hot streak, his egomaniac tendencies have risen to levels far beyond what they were a few years back.

A great example of someone having confidence and not being arrogant is Rafa. The guy went 22-0 on clay last year, winning all three of the MS titles and Roland Garros. He then went on to win Wimbledon and the US Open, accomplishing a Career Golden Slam. Did you ever see him acting like he could turn water into wine? Never. Plus, he was going for 4 in a row at this years AO but still wasn't acting like what Nole is right now.

Granted, they both have totally different personalities, but jfc, can you imagine what he'd be like if he had a season similar to Rafa's? :ninja:

^I agree. Nothing wrong with being confident, but no need to be obnoxious about it, which is what Djokovic is. Really makes it hard to root for him. And you're so right about Nadal. Not sure if it's an act, but if he's being genuine, he's so incredibly humble.

YAY for Sharapova back to Top 10!!!! Would love to see her win on Saturday.

i dunno,i still don't see nole quite as extreme as he was a couple years ago. no more antics just great play.

amore, just to let you know, you should be able to edit your posts rather than deleting them altogether. i tell you as we prefer to keep the forums tidy and not obstructed. usually you have a 5 minute time frame to edit a post so if you can it would make things flow a little better.

^ Clearly you haven't seen him on the court this week with an aviator hat and glasses on, plus a stupid hard case with his rackets in, I think. He was wearing them to promote his Head commercial of him 'playing tennis' whilst attached to the wing of a plane.

And yes, I'm aware of the edit option for posts. My computer was going t*ts up on me and my post wasn't showing properly, so I had to delete and repost. It worked eventually after about an hour of unsuccessful attempts, lol.

^no problem. just wanted to make sure you weren't having any problems with the edit feature ;)

the whole head commercial....yeah it's a bit a silly,i must say but i think that's more the idea of his racquet company and his agency than nole himself.

Same here, Novak is a great personality, and has an epic sense of humor. I think his demeanor can come across as annoying, and certainly has been sometimes. But i think he has clearly matured a lot. Been also watching a lot of his press conferences, andhe is showing more humility.

That said, the Head plane ad, is beyond ridiculous, omg!

Nadal vs Federer semi was a bit of a letdown, but the final more than made up for it. Outstanding stuff. Nole is still unbeaten this year. That's one hell of a winning streak he's got going.

^i tell you nole is the man to beat. he has been utterly, unequivocally impressive this year. aussie open + the two biggest masters titles b2b?! winning IW and Miami together is such a tough feat and nole has done it. i hope eventually nole does gain the number 1 rank because right now,he is the outright best.

Truly amazing final, and wow, Nole does it again! Man i want him to win Wimbledon soo bad, but there is still a lot to do before that. I hope he keeps up with this great form! Always believed he had it in him!

Nole has proved he can better Nadal on hardcourts this year. But can he do the same on clay? Rafa is defending all the big points in the clay season so he has a lot of work to do to retain his position.

What was up with Nadal in the tiebreaker? He looked like he was about to pass out on some points.

Wozniacki picked up another title in Charleston. I don't know how she did it because she didn't seem very impressive on the green clay from what I saw. But I suppose she is now doing what number ones do which is to win matches even when they aren't playing that well.

Strycova should have had at least a set off her. Wickmayer should have probably beat her. Maybe Jankovic too.

With Kim and the Williams sisters out of the picture for a while maybe Caroline is really lining up her chance to get that elusive slam. I wouldn't have picked it to be Roland Garros but I do wonder who could seriously stop her at the moment? Azarenka is probably the greatest threat. Maybe Zvonareva if she could keep her head together at the sharp end of tournaments.
