I read Chapter One already too. I don't know if it was just the translation but the use of the English language in my copy (well i can't complain it's a pdf file i downloaded online) is a bit dated and bordering on crappy.

When we say Chapter One we mean Part One right?

oh yeah i meant part one. their love story made me feel a little bitter, but i can actually relate to Tomas's feelings as I hate commitment too. It drives me off of a relationship if someone forcedly asks me to commit or something like that

Oh how I wish I could join this but I'm pretty sure I'll struggle to find that book where I live and I hate reading books online (nothing beats the feeling of having a book in your hands ). Maybe I'll join in the next book.

One suggestion - I like the idea of two books per month if they have like a considerable amount of pages to read fast (contemporary books can be choose for this) but for larger books (classics with 1000+ pages perhaps) a month or a month and a week should be the time limit.

Maybe has to do with the fact that it was ambiented in 1968 and published in 1984. Just a suggestion .

my thoughts about the first part
i hate their relationship. if people aren't into monogamy that's fine, but if it's hurting one person you either have to change or you're not made for each other. i can't help but hope these two break up as soon as possible.

for anyone who still hasn't found it, I got mine no problem in store at Barnes & Nobles
I didn't order mine online b/c sometimes it can take a full month to arrive

I thought we were going to discuss part by part. I don't have motivation to read.

I think part of the problems is that everyone doesn't have their book yet. so should we start to nominate choices for the next book so that we can find/order it while reading the first one, and then when we are done discussing this one people will already have the second book - and so on and so on....?

yeah, maybe we could still do the voting in between books but always for the book after the next book so we have the whole reading process of one book to get a copy of the next?
