Yay!
That's a good theme...and I'm like you, I prefer something wearable over something 40ft long, with it's own mask..

Here's mine-

Inspiration: GIRAFFE

I wanted her to look a mile long, so I did a long, slim, turtle neck dress made from a giraffe print velvet. Obviously, I exaggerated the figure, but the concept is still there, I think. Because the giraffe is a fairly demure animal, I chose to show no skin at all. But I still wanted it to be sexy, so I added some unexpected purple accents where the pockets exist, made it body hugging, and chose a sexy fabric (velvet). The handbag, courtesy of Yves Saint Laurent, was chosen because of the contrasting animal textures, crocodile and giraffe.

Here's mine...Inspired by a Butterfly,
The look is very casual, people shouldn't be able to spot a big butterfly coming at them from 2 blocks away...

I did a butterfly patchwork shrug, over a Striped tank top, Jeans, and Leather patchwork stilettos...

as for the Shrug and Stilettos I wanted the colors to really jump...the scheme gives kind of an Etro feel...

Yeah, I also realised that the thread was moved. I couldn't find it anywhere, I was having a panic attack lol.
Hmm, let's make the dead line to this coming Wednesday. Then I can give reviews on Thursday and the next theme can be on Friday.. Is that okay with everyone, or is extra time needed?

 That's why I'm subscribed to it! I don't participate 'cos I swear I can't even draw a stick figure properly but I check in regularly to enjoy the talent here. Great stuff :flower:

very nice illustration khoipond:woot:! The colour scheme is interesting, unexpected

diorcouture, that bag:heart::heart: so realistic

Khoi, that's so inovative! I think it's great!

And gius!   The reason the bag looks so realistic is because I cut it out from the Yves Saint Laurent ad with Shalom! I cut out her head, hands, and bag because I wasn't happy with the way I had drawn them!

I only WISH I could draw a bag so realistically!  :innocent:

Thanks Gius!
I know I was looking at the Bag and I was like...Ooo..YSL??? and I soo thought it was real until I zoomed in on it and took out my reading glasses...but it looks good with the Giraffe print and color pencils...

snake.jpg

I was influenced by a snake. It slick, and seductive. The dress is green and fits to the body like a second skin. The dress has a turned up collar like that of a hooded cobra. The woman is sharp, strong, and knows what she wants.

thanks!!

i guess now i'm responsible for a new theme...so..
(hope i'm not repeating a previous one...)

YOUR MISSION:
to design a garment inspired by an animal - could be bird, mammal, fish, reptile, whatever you like. you could use animal prints, shape your clothes in the proportions of an animal, etc. - whatever you want!

the other criterion: please make your design wearable. costumey/gimmicky and unrealistic clothes are my pet peeve. (i'm really not a great fan of many haute couture lines!)

will a sunday deadline be good for everyone?

haha, I could only get to the last page before because the page before it wouldn't load...so I couldnt see the brief, I just guessed it was animal/bird/insect type thing. So I went off and I designed something...which isn't wearable, but I'll post it anyways...I haven't sat down and designed properly in a couple of months so it's just the way it came out. It's more conceptual. I left the chest area bare because my inspiration was a mandarin duck when it has it's breeding plumage, so although it's rather unsuspecting in the end the main reason is breeding. It came out rather Cavalli-ish  one of my least favourite designers.

fff. thats amazing!!
not cavalli-ish though, because yours is actually good :p

sorry for the late judging everyone!
i've been glued to the TV watching the US Open.

dior_couture1245: i was amazed when i saw it! wonderful juxtaposition of textures/prints!

Khoipond89: you combined very different pieces to produce a cohesive outfit - your colour choices are very modern but wearable!

emma_leigh: a very pristine, simple, and elegant dress. however i would've liked some flare to make it more unique - perhaps texture or print or gold lining in the collar.

fab_fifties_fille: a very provocative outfit that i wouldn't normally associate with such a tame animal! i can see it at a rock concert!

Khoipond89!!

your creation evoked the image of a butterfly without going overboard into imitation. the individual pieces would look great separate or together and your presentation was very fresh and appealing, too!
congratulations!

OMG...thanks Everyone!!

so I guess it's up to me to provide a new theme...well come back soon...:ninja:..............:p

Ok...here's your Challenge...
I want you guys and gals to create an look that has been inspired in some shape or form by Industrial machinery, or something of that sort...
I would want something that's wearable and at the same time very chic modern, and recalls your inspiration...

I'm very eager to see what everyone can create!! :D
