This one was really difficult... "depressed chic" is so self-contradictory to me. So I decided to go theatrical - with apologies to Galliano, of course.

The outfit is made of skimpy, thin jersey. When I'm depressed I want to cover up but I also feel exposed, so the outfit doesn't quite qualify as "dressed". Red strings of beads at the wrists and the necklace, which is threaded through holes in the old distressed t-shirt. Topping it off are dirty old white sneakers, which is just the world's most depressing footwear. Her mascara and eyeliner and hair seems to be dripping off her face, and her sweater is bleach-stained, while her shirt is dirt stained. Bleah.

*sigh*... and I'm actually having a great week too, so it's hard to get into that depressed headspace

For 'Depressed Chic' I have used a jumper and long skirt to cover-up, which is what most depressed people want to do.

The jumper is a very plain blue v-neck, which shows they can't be bothered with fancy clothes. However, it is three-quarter length sleeves and fitted so that it isn't scruffy.

The skirt is a blue (the colour hasn't come up very well in the scan) silk skirt. It is slightly crumpled, but not enough to make it very noticable.

The scarf around the waist is black, to add some darkness to it. It is tied loosely round the waist to show a slight lack of interest in the outfit.

On her feet are ballet flats. Plain, simple shoes which are easy to slip on and go with anything.

I don't think there's a right or wrong... what's interesting is how many different ways individuals can interpret a topic... it's so interesting to see people come up with stuff I never would have thought of... I like your drawing, too!

TourniquetMX, Its wonderful I love the colour too, the shade of your blue is almost grey, and very dull and lifeless...I think its good for the theme, but I guess people have different views, works for me anyway

almost the end of this week and i still havent got my drawing up..(blame me getting sick)
but i did do one drawing on monday night(the night i got sick)..so i guess i ll up that one than..=T..it's not that depressing in the way depression is viewed as..but that makes it controversial right...XD

i hope i'm not too late.

The fabric is a dusty purple jersey so that is hangs down, and feels weighty. The sleves are black sheer, and the skirt it too. Black lining underneath the skirt.

[Runway Scene]

Gah I haven't been able to upload my design untill just now. This dress to me is very depressed. It just hangs off the body which to me is someone who is deprssed. They really don't care about how things fit or if its proportionate. The dress is made out of Jersey fabric. The top part of it is very open. The bottom is supposed to resemble a bubble skirt. (Not sure how well the drawing displayed that. :X) Underneath the dress is a brown tank top, made of a sheer material. The dress is belted with a big brown lether belt. I don't know why I entered this contest I always feel so inferior. :X Everyone elses' designs are AWESOME. I feel bad for perfect10, how is she going to chose between such amazing entries?
