Here's mine:
Theme: Elizabeth 1st. meets Moctezuma (4-C)
What if Elizabeth had met Moctezuma, what if the English had colonized Tenochtitlan? What if she had had the chance to wear the Moctezuman Headdress made of Quetzal tail feathers, what if the aztecs had met the fabrics the english used, and viceversa what if the ingleses had mastered the goldsmith techniques the aztecas had?...

and this is what i would have put for the past challenge (pirates), imagine a burnt magenta corseted dress, with a sheer chiffon blouse underneath it. Basically the concept is a lady pirate who has found her treasure... (hence the string of pearls on her neck :) )

Hey, mine will be scanned and ready later tonight, so could you wait for another 11ish hours to judge? (12AM Central Standard Time)

I'll judge sunday...

anymore entries? If anyone else wants to do one, I'll wait an extra day or two to judge.

I'm not gonna be able to enter this time unfortunately, so don't wait for me.

I had some trouble deciding exactly which combination to choose. After a few tries, going through medieval gangster and disco Aztec, I chose Warhol housewife. I really wanted to do a Balenciaga-like dress with a big peplum at the waist, with the skirt being an abstract Cambell's soup can, but I realized that that wasn't what 1950s housewives were all about. So after some Google searching, I determined that their wardrobe consisted of rolled up shirts, A-line skirts, and aprons.

Just tweeking the basic pieces slightly, I created a cocktail dress with a sheer rolled-up shirt and skirt, green apron-dress, and one of Andy Warhol's bananas as a (very) oversized belt. The colors are bright and very 'pop art', in keeping with the theme. (In case you were wondering, she's holding a whisk.)

Pardon the very poor picture, I think it is time I invest in a scanner. Photographs don't quite do the trick.

^ That's the combination I was gonna do also. :D

I love the colors you chose, and the banana.

finalfashion: LOVE the presentation, it's so well done. I love how you've done your design on a medieval looking astrological woodcut...very appropriate! As for the design itself, it's very cool. I really like how you have taken medieval (especially religious) aspects and combined them with futuristic space elements to create something really nice. The dress is beautiful and the cross is so perfectly placed on it. The halo/ helmet is genius and the wings are so awesome!...the boots are cool, too!

Prague: I think this outfit is so cute! I really like how you've taken a little housewife dress and made it totally Robin Hood! My favorite parts are the arm bands and the chain mail apron! It's definitely and interesting combo to work with but you did a great job making it look really fun!

le go garcon 84: I LOVE this combo so much! I love Aztec stuff AND Renaissance stuff and really like the intersection of those two styles, kind of McQueen SS 03. Anyway, I LOVE the headdress, those green feathers are so stunning. The dress itself is actually very well designed. I love the belts and the sleeves and the skirt is the perfect length, you've managed to take elements of both themes and combine in an interesting way that isn't OVERLY costumey...very nicely done!

ilaughed: Great combo, too! I'm so in love with the colors used! I also really think it is so creative that not only did you take the typical 50's housewife look and give it a jolt of color, you've also made it sheer! Sexy! I can totally see this made. I imagine the skirt is very structured and BIG! kind of like the dress Morganne Dubled wore at Dior Haute Couture FW 05. And the belt is so much fun!

Well done everyone!
The winner for this challenge is.....

finalfashion!

Congrats FinalFashion, and thanks for the review, dior couture!

I can't wait for the next challenge!

Ok TFS, here is your challenge.

In fashion we are always looking to next season, but how about forecasting the more distant future?

What do you think (or hope) the world will be like in 2050? Show how you think people will dress in 2050 and explain why.

Entries will be judged on the level of imagination and explanation.

In case you're curious I've been thinking about this today and my prognosications are here: http://finalfashion.ca/?p=573

I know it's not quite like fashion design but I hope you enjoy this challenge:flower:
