GIRLS GONE WYLDE: After spotting Thomas Wylde designer Paula Thomas in the Mercer Hotel lobby, Lindsay Lohan popped into her showroom at CD Network Sunday and got so excited over the new collection that she insisted the Brit-born designer name a handbag after her. Since all eight leather bags in the collection are named after iconic London landmarks, Lohan suggested Abbey Road. The 18-year-old's reasons are many. First, there's the film she's just wrapping up, "Chapter 27," about the days leading up to the murder of John Lennon. She's back in Los Angeles today to shoot Sean Lennon's music video. And, she excitedly told Thomas, there's the scene in "The Parent Trap" when she walks the real Abbey Road. "She was like a hurricane though this place," the Los Angeles-based Thomas said Monday. Sienna Miller, Cameron Diaz and Sharon Stone have become followers of the line, which for fall is expanding to high luxe boots, some studded in Swarovski crystals, and unisex items such as a skinny version of the popular skull scarf, Italian-made cashmere separates and a weekender bag.
Thomas is also staging a photography and fashion exhibit at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills this September, complete with a look book resembling a coffee table tome. Added Thomas: "Lindsay's mad and I love her. People like her drive the fashion industry. She's a good, fun girl you want to hang out with." Lohan wore the "I Want to Talk to God" T-shirt when she DJ'd at Level B in New York this weekend. As buyers from Brown's in London tripled their order of Thomas' sophomore collection Monday afternoon while she was on the phone to WWD, the designer said it appeared she would be increasing her distribution from 20 to 45 doors, including stores in Dubai, Tapei and Tokyo. "And we still have Paris," she laughed about her upcoming sales trip there.
