Tips On How To Sneak Into The Shows...

I have a better idea...just get all the invites to shows that Softie don't want or have time to go to. ;) :p

Sloan and I were standing room only and right before the show starts if there are any empty seats they want them filled in. One night we managed to get seats right behind the Hiltons. Nicky was in a show with Ali. I think it was Mackage F/W 2004. I would go with Ali when she was going to get her hair and make up done and she would ask for backstage passes for her mom and sister. She would bring them to me and I would go back to the hotel till showtime. If we had those we could get into all her shows.

so...what happened with ralph lauren?...

I ended up going in for the 10:00 show (that didn't start until about 30 minutes later:p ). I walked all the way from Penn Station down to West 22nd (it was by the pier) on Friday, the coldest day of the week. I didn't get any good shots, because my camera died just as the show began, but I have some good shots from the Costello Tagliapietra show that I'll post in the Atendees post.:flower:

i do try to give my tickets away but sometimes the pr people know me so it doesn't always work... ^_^

i got into the f/w 04 marc jacobs show by hanging around outside (the armory) and talking to a pr chick...she said if i just hang around until all the important folks are in and seated, she could get me in standing room only...i told her i was in town from san francisco working on my thesis and was doing research on fashion week (which was true) and we chatted about sf. sometimes it just pays to be nice with people and flexible to accepting whatever they can offer.

Did you lie about being on a list or were you honest by saying I'd like to get in is that possible?

that's so cool!

I think it's stupid to lie, people will remember you... what if you work for a real magazine and the PR people remember you as 'that girl that bugged us and lied'... not good for your name at all :).

What I do know though is that a lot of editors carry a packages full of stickers, markers etc with them to get better seats etc...

no i was totally honest...i was chatting with her and mentioned that i'd love to get in if she was able to do it, and she said that she probably could, but it would be standing room, way in the back. i had to wait until the show was pretty much ready to start for her to lead me in (she was attending to guests who had seats).

sometimes it just pays to be honest, although it didn't hurt that i was dressed fairly nicely (and made sure i carried my mj sofia bag!!)

oh god its TOO easy......
i just walk past security without even looking at them and they never stop you

standing room is just that, you stand in the back, behind the rows of seats. you can see, because everyone else is sitting, but you're also in the back, so you're far away.

there are cases of celebs bumping an editor...actually it happens quite often. the designers want press for their shows and having celebs in the front row means the paparazzi will be there to photograph them. certain editors (like anna wintour, for example) probably never get bumped.

This is a great thread, I can't believe I never happened to see it before. Thanks to all for the great tips, I will definitly be trying them.

So if journalists/ediotrs can't get in - who DOES get in? Buyers only??

editors from the bigger magazines always get invites...
so do buyers...
freelance stylists/editors have a harder time with the bigger designers because they are much more interested in buyers and clients and celebs...;)
