If any models or cute girls want to see a show at NYFW FW06 at bryant park let me know - I will get you in =)~

Does that apply for NY SS07? ;)

I'm a cute girl registered through IMG...but I am still trying for some invites...:D

Why not get in for real? With backstage access?

It's easy to apply as a volunteer for New York Fashion Week.

Check it out, along with an article about working there on my blog, Stylebites.

Good luck!

there are so many situations in which no one would stop a smartly dressed person carrying a clip-board...
Oh! I can totally do this!

I could even make a badge to wear around my neck (you know, those laminated passes that all important people wear) and stick an in-ear headset thing in to look really official. :D

Fashion Week, here I come!

Not to be a downer but gate crashers are the subject of a lot of talk amongst the invited attendees at FW in NYC. I was there last time around (going this time to and super excited!) and I can understand what the grumbling is about.

In the end, gate crashers take up seats that should be given to people who are there for legitimate business. So if you must gate crash, please leave the seats for someone with a notepad and a camera who needs to file with her editor by the end of the day.

I'm sure that just being at the show is enough, right?

You don't even need to gate crash to get a taste of the excitement. Go hang around the back stage entrance and you'll be rubbing elbows with all the models and crew who smoke. It's a major no-no inside the tents.

THANK YOU!!

LOL @ plasticyellowkid's advice. That's funny, and smart, I'm sure it would actually work with some shows....hahaha.
I really want to go to a fashion show, that's something I want to do one day before I die, haha. & It doesn't have to be a big show.. just anything.

Thanks for the link! Just curious: has this worked for anyone?

How to get into off schedule shows...?

Does anyone know?

I know that the collections on the schedule are strict invite only, but there are many off schedule shows that I would also love to see.

Are these invite only for editors, stylist & co. ?

Can you apply somewhere to get tickets or is it just turn up at the door thing ..?

I'm talking about London fashion week, but also curious about other fashion weeks..

It looks like most of the talk here is about NY Fashion Week. I'm curious, do they have as much of a problem with gatecrashers in Milan and Paris? Is it any harder or easier to get into a show over there?

I was once hanging around te entrance of the Viktor&Rolf show and the security guy just told me "hey you! come!" and he let me in :woot: But that only happenned once, and i often hang around the entrance of the shows... Does anybody know how i can volunteer for a backstage job for the Paris fashion week? Most of what i've read in the thread is about NY fashion week..thanks!:flower:

I love this thread! :woot:
Anyone with some new experiences?? People mostly write how to get there but is anyone here who got to the show by these advices??
really interested, pls post,,,

Sneaking into Fashion Week: A How To Guide

I've been getting some messages as well as posts. I thought I would tell you some secrets I learned from sneaking into 11 shows in 2 days last fashion week. Although I am not a pro at this I would be more then happy to help any of your New Yorkers out. Here is a list of the following secrets

-Do not stand outside of the tents for an extended peiod of time, the secruity guards will notice you. Do not approch them until your sure that you have the upper hand and that you have the confidence that is needed.

-Do not be scared, If your scared they will notice, just grow a pair and walk up to the secruity guards say something along the lines of "Is the check in for "Insert the fashion show name your trying to get in to" inside?" They will reply yes, Say something like "Thank god I can't Belivie I forgot my invation again" start laughing.

-Once your in, dont go back out. The security guards WILL remember you and will ask to see a invitation and such.

-Dress like you belong there. Suits for Men, Heels for Woman.

-Dont grab every piece of swag you can get your hands on, Wait till your walking out to do that.

-Bring a large stack of index cards, For many designers they give out standing passes, these passes are most likely a plain white index card that has a large "ST" on it. Bring a red pen, a blue pen, and a black pen as well as an assortment of highlighters.

-Bring a water bottle (A LARGE WATER BOTTLE!) These shows get HOT! Picture around 500 people cramped up into a small hallway.

-Make friends. I met many friends from my fashion shows. Just start talking and engaging in converstations. You never know who you will run into. I ran into a man once who was upset because he didnt think going to a fashion show alone was exciting. I offered to go with him as a joke and he handed me the extra ticket. Be friendly it pays in the long run.

-If the person says they cant give out a standing pass, have a friend go up there and say any random name (Preferably a odd name because you dont want to be taking another persons seat! The chances of you saying a name on a list is better then you think)Usually when a name isnt a list the PR person offers a standing pass as gratitude.

-Once your in the show dont make a big deal and start screaming "I JUST SNUCK INTO MY FIRST FASHION SHOW!!!" They will kick you out. I can promise you.

-If your feeling confident you can try going backstage. The past 2 times I've tried to go backstage I have gotten back there. I happen to think that the security guards think that no on will have enough balls to even try to go backstage with out a pass. Well they thought wrong.

-Most of all, TAKE PICTURES. You'll love to tell the story on how you got into one of the best shows in town.

I hope this helps! See you at the shows!

PS, If your a teenager reading this you have a better chance of getting into the shows. As long as you look young enough that you could have a parent in the show the security guards will not give you a second glance.

This is going to be my first fashion week attempt next week, and I'm wondering, do the security guards outside the tent stop everyone before letting them in?

My original plan was to just walk in like I belong there, kind of ignore them in a way, but now I'm not too sure.

Thanks for that, Marc!!!! Reading that made me really excited...to bad I'm not in NY, Milan or Paris...

Spike, I'm so excited for you!!! You must attempt sneaking in to a few show, small ones are probably much easier, but you've just got to at least TRY for the bigger NY names! And DO NOT forget a camera...and if you possibly can, take some video footage on it!!!!

I went to Phillip Lim last year and didn't even see a security guard, just some Jersey-type PR girls who were obviously flustered and very easy to dupe. The show also was outside of Bryant Park, so it might be a different scenario... :innocent:
Confidence always prevails, and looking like you belong (as hideously elitist as that sounds).

At the tents the secruity guards stand post right in front of the doors, They do not ask for invites that simply look in your hands to see if your holding one or not. Their good. I stood outside for around 5 minutes and I saw 3 people just holding pieces of paper get in. One of them got caught though.
