TJ Maxx / TK Maxx

^^i think there might actually be another thread for marshall's somewhere....

There was a Philosophy/Alberta Ferretti (sp) ivy green silk layered mini skirt at my TJ's maked down to $119. It got marked down again and I bought it. I couldn't find any tops to go with it so I returned it. I went back 2 weeks later and it was marked down to $39. I bought it and was super excited but then I returned it again because for the life of me I could not find a shirt that went well with the texture of the skirt. : (

I forgot that I got some super cute white Miu Miu sunnies for $19.99, they must have been mis-tagged/priced. They have the best sunglasses when you go in early winter. I haven't seen any cute sunnies there since it started warming up.

^^yeah sunglasses can be very hit or miss there...
sometimes they have a few nice pairs stashed away at the jewelry counter but for the most part there's not a whole lot..

shame about the alberta ferretti skirt...
i probably would have kept it with the idea that i would eventually find something that would work :P

which is probably why my closet and drawers are about to burst at the seams

Mine had a lot of Just Cavalli Shoes... They were $79-$89. Some Kate Spade was there as well for whoever is interested..

Is anybody familiar with TJ Maxx's/Marshalls' clearance/mark-down trends? Trying to catch their next round of markdowns for some late summer shopping.

recently they got a ton of j crew stuff, I got five pairs of shoes for about sixty dollars. pretty exciting. They also had some of the wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses for 20 bucks.

I think their major clearance sales are early fall (mid/late september) and early January, I don't remember the exact weeks, and I'm sure it varies by store, there are also 2 weekends during those sales that all clearance is an extra 15% off, but I usually end up missing those weekends! At my TJ Maxx they put out all the clearance that has been stored in back for months during these sales and mark them way down, this january I got 7 or 8 pairs of capris and pants for 70 cents each plus an additional 15% off (crazy), and most of them were just basic white things that wouldn't go out of style.

^ Oh wow!

Yeah, I actually called a TJMaxx and they said early September so that must be the time.

I often find that the good items in LA are taken pretty quickly, though - before a good markdown can even be applied.

Another thing that is annoying about TJMaxx is the security tags! They put them in awful places sometimes, leaving a hole - especially bad for non-cotton items.

^ I know, I hate getting home and finding little holes from the security tags, it seems like most of the stores I shop at are getting worse about them.

The sunglasses at the UK TK Maxx stores are usually quite good....I've seen lots of Fendi, Oscar de la Renta, Blumarine, Givenchy, Missoni and even Chloe pairs!

^ wow fendi and chloe sounds so good! All I've seen was calvin klein and tommy hilfiger. meh. lol

^^ The other day when I was at a TJMaxx north of LA, all of the associates were oooohing and aaaahing over a Galliano jacket that had just come in with a price tag of $600.00... they had set it behind the front desk, something I'm sure the managers wouldn't appreciate... I wouldn't think...? :innocent:

^ Could a customer have possibly had it on hold? If not, it seems like that would be a huge no-no.

Blumarine and Chloe, wow! The best I've seen at mine are Missoni (but they were not cute, IMO), Oliver Peoples and Miu Miu

You know, that's a possibility...

I've seen Missoni, too... and some other goodies...

The trick is to find the stores with the Runway collection. If you search for stores on their website, they label which ones carry the real designer stuff.

^ Most of the stores by me don't have the runway section :( but every so often I'll find runway items that have been returned from other stores and I get really excited. I really wish that more stores had a runway section!

A TK MAXX store just opened in Gießen, Germany, which is where I normally shop. Of course there's no runway section but they have some very nice sunglasses, bags and dresses.
I love that you have to really look through everything to make sure that you don't miss something great. That makes shopping so much more exciting.
I already bought two cute dresses and two sunglasses (one is a beautiful pink by Just Cavalli ) and there will be more.
What I also like are the dressing rooms which are big enough, have nice mirrors and you can close the doors so that nobody can look in or open them from the outside.

What I like is that they've started carrying some makeup-mostly it's just Modelco, but the one I went to today had a LOT of Lancome, some Paula Dorf, and some Urban Decay. They had the Heavy Metal box from 2007 which has two full-size products...for a whopping $4.

about the sunglasses, yeah i got chloé myrte ones for £50 (they had 3 pairs a while ago but they got bought so quickly obviously)
