It's so hard for me to think of the things I love to look at as "trends" quite possibly because as a musician and a performer, the outrageous and "showy" things that are being shown now, such as studs, leather, and sequins always exist in my closet. I can't remember a time when I didn't wear these things. I can't think of life without multiple leather jackets, and multiple shiny things!
The trend I was happiest to see come back, were jumpsuits. It's such a great way to pull a look together QUICKLY, and there is a shape that works for just about every woman.
Some trends I see for Spring that I think I like is a return to tribalism and safari chic. I love bold and exotic prints as a rule, and to see things like more Ikat, or Batik pleases me. I think anytime you can resurrect an idea that Yves St. Laurent originated, it's not a bad thing provided it's done well. Whereas we're knee deep in bitchy 80's mode, I see designers like Isabel Marant, proposing a more New Romantic/Gypsy look for spring that I like. I think she's actually one of the more sane designers out today, who knows what will be chic and enduring, albeit casual and streetchic at the same time.
