Anybody got type manager software or know where I can download some? I need to control my library, it's out of hand.

I had Adobe Type Manager for a while, and it made me pull my hair out. I have now downloaded and used this:

http://www.fontutilities.com/Fast_Font_Set/32/

which is a free program that uses no almost memory and lets you organize your fonts as you see fit. Rubs great alongside Illustrator and PS. It's still not quite exactly what I need, but it's close, and free.

there's a fotolog, i really love about typo. maybe you know it already.

If you use a Mac OS X 10.4 includes Font Book, works well. More of an industry standard would be Suitcase from Extensis.

for those who can't see, it's Idea Index: Graphic Effects and Typographic Treatments by Jim Krause

This book is awesome. I saw it a year or so ago at school, it totally blew me away. It's full of Adobe tutorials and great ideas:

Logo Font & Lettering Bible
by Leslie Cabarga

He also has a good book on color palettes too. Actually, anything by him is awesome.

I use Suitcase too and would recommend it as well!

Wow, a thread for typography! What kind of serif faces do you think are the most appropriate for luxury/high fashion? It seems like Didonis dominate the scene pretty well. Know some other cool and elegant ones?
