Uggs

hotpinky said:
if they ARE just a functional staple and you wear them for comfort and to keep your footsies warm in the winter, then WHY WHY WHY all the questions about what to wear with them?!?! if they're really not a trend, why all the drama over what to wear them with so they look cute?

my advice: wear your UGG's with old old icky clothes so at least that way you'll look like you're wearing them for function and not trying to make them cute. if you try to look fashionable while you're wearing them, at least for the next couple of seasons while they *hopefully* fade out completley, you'll just end up looking like you're trying too hard. regardless of WHY you're wearing them, whatever reason, unless you have a sign on your forehead that says "for comfort, warmth", people will just think you're terribly out of fashion.

if you dont care what people think, go for it. but sinced you asked what to wear with them, i think you DO care what they think, and therefore must advise you to say:

NO NO NO NO NO

attack... NOW

amen :D

I love uggs. Because I didn't want keep wearing my old plain ones I bought the love for australia uggs with the ribbons ala sienna miller and honestly I wish I could wear them out becasue they're the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. Heels are beautiful but what i would do to go clubbing in ugg boots. x

i think they are cute and incredibly comfortable - and also if you're not a fan of heels and glamour or if winter conditions are really bad where you live or if you just want to put on 'something' and go out , they are the right choice..i know they are not a piece of art but once you wear them it looks better than the pictures. but you shouldn't ask what to wear with them, i don't think the aim of wearing uggs is to be "chic" but to be comfortable..

The more people hate Uggs the more I like em

I guess things change, huh? ;)

pucci,

i still think theyh ARE ugly ;)
i just didnt like them being worn on naked skin with miniskirts.. BUT i still find them ugly..
thats why i sais Birkenstocks are also ugly but i still wear them.

to clarify. what i meant was that no matter what people say (inlcuding myself) i still wear them :shifty:

It's ok, I know people wear them first of all to be comfortable, and so do you. :)

I just thought that you changed your mind, as i found it a bit funny I just commented, thanks for clarifying :flower:

I wear my black uggs all the time. sorry but i'm not going to totter to work in my louboutins while gales of wind try and whip me off london bridge. I'm going back to Canada at the beginning of Feb. where the temp is -40 on a daily basis. Not sure the uggs will hold up. I'm thinking of getting the really hardcore looking ones. Does anyone know what I@m talking about or own them? I think they may be necessary.

i think you're talking about ugg ULTRA boots / ULTIMATE boots (which are about $160) or SUNDANCE boots / SUNBURST boots (which are about $200). They are made for hard winter conditions with thicker soles. Here are the pictures;)

sorry i didn't mention before - first picture (the boot in chestnut colour) is sunburst, the sand one without fur is ultra, the black one is ultimate and the last one in sand colour with fur is sundance. :flower:

Thanks - the black pair actually may work (my other pair is black and fits my wardrobe). I didn't realize they made some with thicker soles. Thats convienent. The pair I was look at were the adirondack and they are on sale at $140 which is a good price.

they are truly not attractive but with skinny jeans and my eggplant overcoat may work. It's going to be icy, snowy, windy, everything. Oh Saskatchewan.

wow meg i was gonna ask u where u live in canada for -40! didnt know saskatchewan was that bad.
i live in ottawa and yesterday we got our first real snow of the winter and first time its been really cold. i took out my uggs and now i don't wanna take them off!

hahaha -40 is pretty much the norm in winter at least. My dad says it's been real bad lately. I haven't experienced a saskatchewan winter for 4 years or so. It's +13 in London today. Hope I can cope!

I live in South Florida, so there's no need for Uggs here...haha.

I don't particularly find them all that attractive either.

Hee hee, I was just about to ask you where you live too, Meg. I'm really spoiled with Toronto winters (though I still manage to freeze my butt off)!

i just saw a lady this morning in those uggs u want meg, a different color then the picture though.
and yes they are unattractive kellyisazebra but oh-so-comfortable and when u live in canada and its cold, they are the best thing. i didnt like them until i put them on, THEN i wouldnt take them off lol

I hate the look of the ridiculously tall ones, AND the knock off ones from stores like american eagle. Personally though I have short short little ones with no special designs and they are chocolate brown, not the ugly tan that gets dirty and looks dingy. I wear them conservatively underneath my jeans (not over them or with sweat pants) at school. My school lacks a heat system so they keep me somewhat warm. I think I would only ever wear them under my jeans for comfort, instead of over them for fashion purposes.
