I am defently going for comfort over style.. i wear them to work under my big baggy pants you cant see them and they are soooo comfy :) i love uggs

In Australasia, sheepskin boots have long been popular with people in rural occupations, who have ready access to the raw materials, such as sheep shearers. Their popularity increased as a result of World War I and World War II, when sheepskin boots were popular with aviators, because of their need to keep warm in exposed conditions at high altitudes. Ugg boots have also been popular with surfers and competitive swimmers since at least the 1960s, for keeping warm while out of the water. Nevertheless, in Australasia, bogans and members of related subcultures are generally the only people who wear them in public. Most other Australians only wear ugg boots around the house, or at the most trips no further than the local corner shop, although recent fashion interest has given them more exposure.
About every ten years, ugg boots become fashionable with the start of its last resurgence being 2003. The most recent foray into fashion was partly due to the myriad of small Australian manufacturers who had been plying their trade for decades and partly due to marketing by an American company, UGG Australia, a branch of Deckers Outdoor Corporation.
Brian Smith created the "UGG Australia" brand in the US in 1979. He sold the company to Deckers Outdoor Corporation in 1995. Clifford Severn of Koolaburra pre-dated Brian Smith in selling ugg boots in the United States with Clifford doing road trips in the 1950s and 60s. Evidence given to IP Australia also showed advertisements in US surfing magazines in the 1960s.
Various actors have been seen wearing ugg boots. Pamela Anderson started wearing ugg boots to keep her legs warm between takes for the pilot of the Australian version of the television show Baywatch, and brought them home for use on the California set. Also, Deckers' marketing in recent years has included seeding actors with their footwear in order to get more exposure. Actress Kate Hudson wore a pair of UGG boots on the poster for the mid-2004 movie Raising Helen. They were associated also with the Anglo-American actress Sienna Miller and boho-chic (c2003-5). The Sheepskin footwear is now a major category in most US department stores and retail shoe stores.
Sheepskin footwear is unisex although some styles lend themselves more to being worn by women over men.
Natural properties of the sheepskin leather used in the vast majority of sheepskin boots results in thermostatic benefits. Thick fleecy fibres on the inner part of the boots allows air to circulate during summer so your feet don't become excessively warm. The natural thermal properties of sheepskin ensure warmth in colder climates.
In America, ugg boots are commonly worn with jeans, although one could wear other pants with the boots. One of the more popular ways to wear them is to wear the boot over the bottom of the pant leg, although you can also see people wear the boots with the bottom of the pant leg fitting over the boot.

I live in South Florida, so there's no need for Uggs here...haha.

I don't particularly find them all that attractive either.

:innocent:

I thought people wore Uggs to keep the snow out of their boots? ^

But I didn't know that they don't make your feet too warm lol.

I doubt they even sell Uggs here...I've never seen any in stores. LOL, and people's feet get warm here in flip flops even.. haha ;p.

Weee.

man, I love Uggs. They're really warm and comfy and are a dream to wear in a cold plane. I think the only reason they got its got its bad rep was due to tis overexposure... minikisrts with Uggs are NOT a good look.

the people who wear them for as to say practical reasons have probably never been to a place where you'd really need to, i.e with no snow. There is a plenty of decent winter boots around. if it is snowing, and not -40, but most likely -5-10 plus salt on city streets i do not see anything practical lugging a pair of wet lambskins soaked to your feet with mud. or if not, they'll look it after a few times wearing, that's why the trend did not really catch on, too ^^

^^ i unfortiantly discovered they werent waterproof in snow today .. spent rest of day working on the shop floor in bare feet lol .... so many customers commented on it ... i nearly died of shame ... allthough i knew i should have put waterproof protector spray on it .. which makes them waterproof so its my own fault really .. but yes they can be made waterproof

I wore my Uggs out today...(yes, I own Uggs...TWO PAIRS) It's been too cold in the city to be w/o them.

I remember that a few years ago, I thought they were horrible, I bought them this winter and I pretty much live in them, haha.

In or out, slimming or not ... it's been 20 below zero here the past few days, and my UGGs have saved my feet running between the law school and the courthouse.

I'm getting another pair in black as soon as I have some extra cash.

BTW, I sprayed mine with applegarde ... it's really helped keep the water and salt stains from sticking.

They never really catched here in Italy...

I don't like them. To me they're ugly and don't go with any look that I like.

I find them trashy, I don't know why. But I'd really like them in the house, with sweatpants and a hoodie ^_^... I admit they must be absolute comfort.

My friend has a pair and I used to make fun of her for having them until she goaded me to try them on... I have to admit that they're amazingly comfortable. So I'm going to have to completely agree with you. ;)

well i own a pair for 3 years now, and have worn them a total of 3 times, but this february, NYC has been COLD! no snow, or rain, just freezing, i wore my uggs for 2 weeks straight, and my feet are the only part of me that is warm, so i'm glad i bought them...they are ugly.

I just wanted to know if anyone else is having problem with their uggs? I live in Toronto and right now the weather is quite gross and I've had my uggs since November and seriously my uggs get soaked through. I was walking downtown today and had to buy new socks, and I had to change them twice!! Before uggs i had these ones from american eagle from 2 years ago....way half the price and lasted a lot longer. So anyone else have soaking through problems???

^ I've sprayed them like it's nobody's business lol. I've actually already used up a whole can of spray. Kinda makes me sad that it doesn't keep my feet dry when its gross out:(. But when its dry out they do keep my keep warm and toasty..so torn....

I don't think there's anything wrong with Uggs as long you don't wear them in hot weather with a denim mini lol.
