Uggs

See, this is alright. Knee length skirts and wool tights signify that it is cold outside, hence a reason behind the uggs. But please, for the love of god, do not wear them with a t-shirt, miniskirt, and bare legs.

Too late.. I say wear them with whatever you want! Its funny, I don't know whether or not it snows in Australia, but that's where these boots come from. Maybe they aren't just made for the winter. :innocent:

I must say, I have hated Uggs from the first day they came out. I thought they were ugly and chunky and something you would wear with pj's... But I've been thinking. It's getting so cold here in Canada this summer. The winter's gonna be super long and freezing. Perhaps Uggs could be my transition shoes. Throw a beautiful pair of tweed pumps in my bag, throw on the Uggs to trample through the 4 feet of snow.... I think I just might buy a pair.

Where's the easiet place to purchase from?

Heh heh, well the brand that's popular in America (UGG AUSTRALIA) is actually an American brand - so I don't think that a kangaroo suit would look quite right for some reason. They're not even made in Aussie anymore.

The word "ugg" is a generic term in Australia and NZ - it's a word like sneakers. You use it to refer to the style of the boot not the brand. UGG the brand is American and not sold in Australia or NZ. (That would sort of be like wearing sneakers that say SNEAKERS on the backs of them). So I always laugh when people say "fake uggs" - ever heard of fake sneakers?

People only wear them in the winter here - I think it's the same in Australia. I think Americans have this idea of Aussies wearing them on the beach in the summer or something - I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen. I think they're more of a "put on after you've been surfing IN THE WINTER WHEN IT'S COLD" kind of thing. Also, up until recently Aussies have pretty much all considered them "daggy" (uncool) and only to be worn indoors.

Yay - I'm glad you approve. But hell no would I wear them with a mini and bare legs - up until this winter I felt paranoid wearing them outdoors at ALL! ;)

I'm actually considering buying a pair too, for the same reason as you dr.shoegal. I live in Minnesota, and am always suffering from cold feet. Wearing a pair of fuzzy, cozy warm boots sounds tempting. So, for practical reasons, I just might have to break down and jump on this bandwagon, even though I once swore up and down I wouldn't.

But I will NOT be buying them those icky pastel blue, pink and purples. I'm thinking a lovely pair of chocolate colored ones.

seriously, can't you find some other warm boot that is at least in style?? when you wear UGGs, you may feel warm, but you look like you're finally cool... a year too late

Can you suggest any other warm boots? If I can avoid buying a pair of Uggs, that would be great, but I've gotta find SOMETHING to keep my feet warm.

Ugh.

I'm really getting tired of the "Uggs are SO OVER" comments I hear everywhere.

They should have never been a fashion statement to begin with. Stop calling winter boots that have been a staple for people for decades OVER or PASSE. They're comfortable and no boots in the world are warmer.

Just wear them as warm winter boots. I have worn them for years just as winter boots with jeans and it seems so silly that people jumped on the bandwagon just because celebrities were wearing the boots and now those same people scoff at others for wearing them because they're "over"? Bleh.

Okay, fine... Whether or not Uggs are "in", I'd like to find a winter boot to keep my feetsie's warm. As much as I'd love to wear short skirts and open toed shoes all winter that is NOT a possibility. So I am willing to accept another option to keep my feet warm. Any other suggestions?

I think with leggings and long heavy skirts would definately be my favorite way to see them... I would also just wear them like you do snowboots.. I hear you on the need warm boots factor- who cares if there in style when it's 30 below and you just want to get somewhere without numbing up

Amen!! I didn't realize the celeb trend, I avoid the E! channel and all those nasty gossip magazines. And! I was in europe when the whole thing happened. I first saw Delia*s knockoffs on their website while I was in Milan and HAD to have them then. Ugg who?

I don't wear them because they make me cool, I wear them because I like them...a lot. Its disturbing to think that people are thinking so much in depth about what my shoes say about me.

couldn't agree more.
I've never worn a pair in my life, but hey, for people who have the need during cold winter months, why not!?
they are no trend and just a pair of boots that keep the feet warm, what's so 'out' about that?

and I agree with someone who said wearing them with knee length skirt and wool tights :flower:

if they ARE just a functional staple and you wear them for comfort and to keep your footsies warm in the winter, then WHY WHY WHY all the questions about what to wear with them?!?! if they're really not a trend, why all the drama over what to wear them with so they look cute?

my advice: wear your UGG's with old old icky clothes so at least that way you'll look like you're wearing them for function and not trying to make them cute. if you try to look fashionable while you're wearing them, at least for the next couple of seasons while they *hopefully* fade out completley, you'll just end up looking like you're trying too hard. regardless of WHY you're wearing them, whatever reason, unless you have a sign on your forehead that says "for comfort, warmth", people will just think you're terribly out of fashion.

if you dont care what people think, go for it. but sinced you asked what to wear with them, i think you DO care what they think, and therefore must advise you to say:

NO NO NO NO NO

attack... NOW

I'm thinking of buy ones...but havent decided yet... They dont look pretty but so comfy...and good for winter when u dont want to get ur pants wet...
so how about everyone think of them ???

there are like 250 threads on uggs, please use a search function before posting such a generic topic :flower:
