UK Harper's Bazaar April 2019 : Jenna Coleman by David Slijper

Nice to see Sljiper back shooting for them.

I have no idea who is she, probably a local celeb, but glad a new face got the cover. And it's a nice springish one.

I miss those times, when covers were either conceptual or naive, but speaking to some theme or season just like this one. Simple and nice to look at. When people wanted to be just glamourous. Nowadays it is rare to get quietly elegant covers without something vulgar (cough, Vogue US, cough) or just gimmicky (hi, Vogue Italia).

She was in Doctor Who which has a strong international fanbase.

Great cover.

Very glad for Jenna and surprised that she had to wait this long for her first major cover. Especially that Harper's took so long. But here she is. Pity it's so uneventful for me. I find the dress really ugly (of course, it's McQueen under Sarah Burton). But then they had to shoot it against a patterned backdrop. It's just a bit of an eyesore. The yellow masthead almost disappears, and her hair and expression look blasé.

It's odd because this had all the makings for a classic British Harper's cover, but it just didn't come together nicely.

Haha what an insipid, generic cover. Just like Justines entire magazine!!

It's just nice to have a magazine that doesn't make any futile plays for the fleeting attention of whatever they picture 'millennials' to be, and which also assumes readers have a background knowledge of fashion and culture that extends beyond seeing reposted images online.

That was fast! Normally it's a few days until we've seen the review.
Hopefully, the issue will be uploaded to PressReader just as soon because I can't wait to see Aamito's editorial. Maybe it will be just as splendid as Nicole Atieno's in December. See @Miss Dalloway , the casting isn't just 'lily white' in this magazine.

Can't stand the cover editorial. Post-production on these images is awful as is the styling. Maybe Slijper should just stay away permanently if he delivers such crap. I for one never missed his absence.

It feels a bit like they were so excited to be allowed to shoot a cover inside Kensington Palace they completely overlooked the fact it isn’t actually very cover worthy.

. See @Miss Dalloway , the casting isn't just 'lily white' in this magazine.

Two black models each having an ed, in years of Justine editing this magazine is hardly impressive, Benn! It's funny you think Edward is the one taking Vogue back to the Dark Ages while editors like Picardie just seem so incredibly out of touch with the world at hand. UK HB is the most irrelevant magazine in the world. They might sell to their core readrship of women over 45, and that is clearly who she is pandering with this god awful magazine, but i am yet to meet anyone who buys this magazine. It is NEVER even part of the conversation.

Just look at that cover story, of course it doesn' work, she thought because she had an actress from such a show it would be perfect for them, but it came out just outdated, silly, and plain ridiculous. Beautiful young woman, with intelligence and style, looking stiff as the buildings they so love to feature. Everything about this magazine is dated. At least Yeomans knew how to balance the content to make it more modern without alienating their readers.
