UK Vogue August 2023 : Maya Jama by Steven Meisel

Same as most of the non-British members here: I don't know her at all, but is refreshing to see this kind of beauty from this magazine. The Love Island thing doesn't sound good though (reality shows are my least favorite thing on TV), but I'll take it over most of the covers this year or the Kit Connor rumored cover. The colors reminds me of the the VI cover of Heather Bratton. The ed is very Adriana Lima type.

For a moment I thought it was Christy Turlington heavily photoshopped

Anyway, nice photo of an anonymous figure (for non British people), typical of the 70's and 80's. I can't wait for Edward to leave.

P.S. It has become unbearably expensive to buy Vogue UK in my country (Poland), costing around 65 PLN/€15 per issue. And considering the content, it's not worth the money. Great God, I never thought I could say something like that, after 30 years of collecting.

Love Island the reality show?…

I have no idea who this lady is but good for her and for being shot by the once legendary Meisel. he’s a petty b*tch when it comes to photograph well established models but give him a random reality show celebrity and he’s down for it

the cover has indeed an 80’s vibe to it and it looks good but that editorial preview is very average.

Classic Meisel. She is beautiful, it’s timeless, I like it…
It doesn’t rock the world but it’s good.

‘I don’t mind repetitive Meisel at this stage of his career as long as it is beautiful and relevant. He gave us enough food of classic fashion photography for 3 decades…

A completely unexpected choice of cover star, but I’m very happy for her. She’s gorgeous and a great personality too, at least based on what I’ve gathered from the internet. Not impressed by the editorial, however and I didn’t recognise her from the topless B&W shot, I realised I just scrolled past it on Instagram, not paying a second to it.

i was like what? her? then just realise British Vogue is the same level of garbage so… they deserve each other

When the main talking point of your Vogue cover is ' ...on splitting up with Stormzy'. I thought magazines are over it-girls and more into women of substance?

I wonder if this will sell well. The cover isn't groundbreaking, but I like it. Reminds me of Jodie Comer's cover, but at least she had a mohair jumper on I just don't see why they cropped almost all the fashion out.

So amazed at the casting. Anyway, I'd much rather have liked Holly Willoughby on the cover it would have sold tons plus she's got some deal on with Marks & Spencer. But I suppose her connection with QVC isn't 'Vogue' enough.

I was just about to edit my post for this. :grinningwsweat: I now firmly believe it's not a matter of being snobbish, it's simply a matter of being petty. I get the impression he wants to 'make' his subjects, not the other way around.

I wonder if she understands what a tremendous honour it is to be shot by him when he continues to shun the Kardashians.

Still perplexed as to why she got the cover. Maybe a massive fashion campaign coming up?

I like her a lot based on what I saw on Glow Up. A very sweet and beautiful woman. The topless shot is stunning! Could do without the rest, though.

like the cover despite having no idea who she is! she reminded me of christy somehow??
the ed is super meh, not exciting, doesnt sell and it’s boring

The most random combination. What a win for her...

She's a beautiful woman though and seems to appreciate the moment so why not though? At this stage Meisel's bland UK Vogue format won't change and Edward won't seem to let anyone else style so there's no point in getting one's hopes up at all. The cover portrait is miles better than Mikey's awkward green tattooed Prada throwback at least.

Well, this is BRITISH Vogue, so the subject of the cover isn't so inappropriate.

No comment on the rest.

Reminds me of to the bombshell eds from early 2000s American Vogue.
