UK Vogue March 2019 : Naomi Campbell by Steven Meisel

I hear a lot of people in this thread saying it's on sale for £2 - but I have yet to see one anywhere in my area, or else I'd happily get myself another copy.

However, in other months, it's frequently been on sale here for £2 when others have reported it as full-price.

I wonder how they decide these 'regional reductions'?

further out of London you go less people care about Vogue ;-)

Liya's picture is EVERYTHING!

I saw the magazine today and I must admit, the cover looks really good in real. A real standout ...

This image is a portrait of one of the strongest, most inspiring, driven and uniquely talented humans I have been blessed to know. Naomi told me recently that we’ve been working together for over 25 years, which in itself seems incredible. I remember so well the first time I saw her face. It was in an issue of French Elle. She jumped out of the page with that smile, something so real. So I tore out the page and kept it. Soon after that I booked her for American Vogue. She turned up at the studio, it was the first time we met, hair back, shy, quiet and head-to-toe in black Azzedine. From that very first job together, she’s always given 100%, always on time, always professional however insane things got around us, and it’s been that way ever since. I love Naomi and above all, she’s a loyal and loving friend.

STEVEN MEISEL

I dream of watching a documentary about and with Meisel one day. Hopefully it's made while he's alive.

If only the ***hole wasn't so secluded... what I wouldn't give for a juicy memoir or a book of all the unpublished or rejected photographs over the years. Even now with the exhibition, one has to hunt down the second-hand merch cause it isn't available online. I guess all the mystery and exclusivity is part of his allure, but it can be quite annoying at times lmao

In fact Meisel is doing now an exhibit in Spain in A Coruña in the north of Spain and I live in Madrid but it's too far / expensive to go, then expensive to pay the entry and they you've got to also pay the hotel to see it and then go back so I'm asking myself if it's truly worth anything to go to actually rewatch photos I've seen over and over again ahaha but I would love to go.

I get you on the travel cost, but you should know that at least the entry is free. I'm also from Europe but the trip to Spain would cost me much more than I'm willing to give on an exhibition of works that I'm already very familiar with. I'd love to see all the men's photography from Per Lui that isn't as accessible to us as all the Vogue editorials and I'd also love to see the early photographs they've exhibitied as well! Of course, one could see those in the catalogue but you have to actually go there to get it lol

My life change forever days after this came. Of course this issue did nothing to me, but I can't remove what happened to me at the time. It's living with me ever since.

About Meisel, huh, his work was very hard (so hard!) to find for complete online. I still would love to have his Vogue Unique and L'Uomo editorials. The Vogue Italia Archive and the US Vogue one helped a lot to snap most of his work. Ten years ago was impossible to have it, the quality was so low and there was missing pages and months. When I did the "cover parade again" (it's a nice name though) my dream was to reunite at least all his covers in one place. The search of his covers was a nightmare and an adventure. It took me years and years to complete the set. Not easy. I'm so happy that his agency never deleted my posts. I remember in the early years that Art and Commerce reported several pictures of this forum.
