US Elle June 2015 : Taylor Swift by Michael Thompson

Not remotely interested in this cover, she is reaching Rihanna level of overexposure in my book, and its just tiring!

I swear.. People can hate on conde nast but even great photographers are not so good when they work for other companies. This is the best Elle could do with Michael Thompson?!

I like Taylor's most recent album and I think she's very pretty, she has been everywhere recently but I quite like this cover. It's a little cheesy but I don't mind, at least it's something a bit different for them and I like seeing a full body shot.

I used to fan so hard for Taylor Swift but i have to say this 1989 promo cycle has really soured her for me. I'm sure this will be another "oh gosh i love my famous girlfriends and I was single in New York for 10 months" variation interview. The guitar looks really cheesy as well.

That has to do with the stylist, creative director, make-up and hair people working on each shoot. When photographers shoot for Interview for example their work is 10 times better than at Vogue, Vanity Fair, W etc.

That's what I think as well, especially with Thompson. We all know he's a tremendous photographer. It would appear Elle is pretty rigid with this grey backdrop, which I hate. I'm also beyond tired of Taylor Swift. Not sure what she's got to say that hasnt been said for the past few months.

I forgot to mention that. It also depends on the creative freedom the team is given by the magazine. Which of course is no excuse for the badly photoshopped background.

Taylor Swift is tired and I'm tired of seeing her everywhere. She is overexposed just like Rihanna, but the only difference is Rihanna always brings something different to the shoots. Taylor always looks the same.

Plus I can't stand Taylor and her " I have the best girlfriends fake talk".

She had an Elle cover with a guitar in 2010, not very original

I am so so so sick of Taylor Swift. I'm not a fan to begin with, but she is on another level of overexposure at this point.

That really was the point I was trying to make. Conde nast just had a lockdown on top talent. Someone like Julien D'ys or Pat McGrath for example... Bring just as much to the table as any photog in my opinion.

I love Taylor, but this cover is all sorts of awful! I don't like the way she's posed, and the outfit she has on isn't flattering.

I dont care for her or this styling but at least the pose is something different for Elle... the masthead should be darker though imo.

The shoes steal everything. All eyes lead to those shoes and not on her face. The dress attracts attention but the shoes really steal the attention from her. I dislike the guitar because it's detached to her current image. She's switched to Pop and that guitar adds the country vibe to it which doesn't stay true to her new image. Also, I also don't see her perform with a guitar nor wear that lot of clothes. The cover is just detached to her image now. Cheesy.

The grey background is boring. I am one for studio magazine covers ala Bazaar and VJ but at least have some consistency to how it looks like. None of their covers look coherent! Elle has studio shots of celebs sitting, zoomed out standing, then back to that ++. Also, if they are going to use a dead background then liven up the styling and add colors, to which at least they did here.

The cover is so wrong in many ways: the styling, the pose, the guitar,...
