US Elle September 2013 : Kate Upton by Carter Smith

What a gorgeous cover! There is literally nothing I can fault.

Considering how much 'debate' she often causes I have to say her last few covers have really impressed me!

This is elegant and beautiful and I love everything about it! Hands down Elle US's best cover in a long while.

she does not do well with studio shots. shes a location set kind of girl it seems.

I agree. She becomes dull(er) when set against a plain background. She's forced to model and it normally does not translate well. On locations she plays a role and it works better. Here, her edit. is a lot better than this uneventful cover.

only she can make that lanvin look trashy  soo disappointed in this cover

their best cover this year without a doubt! Kate looks smashing and everything worked on the cover. Although somehow the combo of red and gold scream the holiday cover but she looks ultra glam

A fabulous cover shot which Kate Upton has given us this month, and kudos to Elle for putting a model on their cover. The September issue probably sells itself but I do admire them for getting a relevant model to cover a one of their issues. As much as some might argue Kate is an overused face this year, I think her presence has done Elle the world of good - feels very refreshing for them.

I'm not sure if anyone will relate to this, but I remember when I would look through Vogue in the 90s and there were those cheesy 'glamour' ads for b-line companies, and then there were the high-end ads that reminded you of the difference between high fashion and prom/Sears cheese...

As much as I love Kate, I see nothing high-end, or truly sexy about these images. Even Elle shouldn't make me feel like I'm looking at an ad for a shopping mall store. Some of the editorial images are lovely though. :)

It's certainly Christmas come early for me. In my eyes, their last few covers have been awful, so this is such a welcome change.

This girl is a star! She has had the most amazing year, cover-wise, that I have ever witnessed for a model. She probably won't get French Vogue by November, so I'll count this as her fourth "big time" og cover in under a year. Unbelievable!!!!

What she's done in less than a year is more than 99% of models will be able to get in their whole careers. She is officially a supermodel, if she wasn't already.

Best Elle US cover in quite some time. I don't really have a strong opinion on her in general, but in this photo she's bringing a lot of sex appeal to the table without looking the least big vulgar and that's not an easy feat.

On being treated like a “dumb blonde”: “People deal with models like they are children. They think they can pull one over on you. It’s actually funny. I’m always like, I’m about to pull something on you, and you’re so focused on thinking I’m dumb you’re not even going to know.”
On the fallout after her Sports Illustrated cover: “After my first Sports Illustrated cover, I felt terrible about myself for a solid month. Every single guy I met was either married or about to be married, and I felt like I was their bachelor present or something. I’m not a toy, I’m a human. I’m not here to be used. I am a grown woman, and you need to figure your **** out.”

This is interesting and not something I've given much thought about with her. A lot of celebrities claim a difficult dating life but here is one that is believable.

Kate Upton proves that she literally has what other models don't have (physically and mentally) and it's paying off big time!
The story and editorial are classically sexy but show a new kind of Supermodel. She is so effortlessly sexy and doesn't have to writh around, contort her body and exaggerate her expressions (as seen with other women trying to be sexy).

Goodness, Kate Upton looks just lovely on this cover! Perfectly smoldering and sexy and not at all vulgar like some magazines veer into when attempting such a cover style.

Like most of you, I love the way this dress looks on her, perfection! but what's really the best is the hair and make up. They kept it simple, yet is elegant and sexy, so classy... and I have to agree with Heather, the bed shot is the best. This girl just keeps getting better.

I like the cover but in my eyes she's not very emotive. I mean the editorial is nice enough but there isn't much "modeling" on display. Karlie's editorial is a stark contrast because she's utilizing her skill set as a model and for the most part it works.
Just an observation...

I have never hated Kate, but for some reason the composition of the cover annoys me. The contrast between white and red is too harsh for me, looks like she was glued over it. As for the editorial, I like some shots and her face looks truly pretty ♥

I like that's she's very transparent when answering questions in an interview without becoming pretentious.
