US Harper's Bazaar October 2022 : Charlize Theron by Josh Olins

Ugh.

I love Charlize and it isn't completely awful (we've seen worse), yet this simply doesn't sit right with me. Not sure what she's doing with her right arm, but I don't like it. The photograph is very sterile. And the font. I don't love it. Overall it looks like a cover scraped up from someone's leftovers, not like something they specifically commissioned and that's what bothers me the most. I couldn't find the full editorial on their website, but you can't tell me that this was the most cover-worthy image they took.

Isn't there a British Vogue cover of her sitting on a chair in the same pose, but angled the other direction? I swear she even has the same shoes and a Grecian dress on too.

Either way, this is very dreary and oddly framed for a cover.

The May 2012 cover of UK Vogue.... (vogue.co.uk)

I imagine we'll be seeing this story again in UK Harper's Bazaar, so I wonder if they'll choose a different shot for any cover that might come from this.

HATE the hair and that frumpy dress. Her face is gorgeous though but that's about it.
Samira's Bazaar is sooooooo WEAK OMG so bad !

The layout of the cover is visually awful. Does this magazine even have an art director? Dreadful. It looks like a bad bad bad fan-made magazine cover.

The whole shoot looks so amateur. Also bad retouching looking more like Harper’s Bazaar Kazakhstan
