Thanks Faith for all the scans, lots of karma for you:smile:

As for the edits, the Maria Carla one is great, but the others are dissappointing. Why the hell does Camilla Akrans have two edits while Sorrenti, Kadel, Tsiolis, and Ward are absent? All of those guys are better than Akrans and Daniel what's-his-name, his edit would look great in a magazine like Numero but in Bazaar it looks cheap. As for Nathanial Goldberg's edit, any of Bazaar's regular photogs could have delivered a better studio shoot than Goldberg did, case in point look at the Doutzen piece from January by Kadel, Brilliant! How does everybody else feel about the choice of Akrans/Jackson? I'm not just dissappointed I'm bordering on being downright mad! Anybody else feel left down by Bazaar, especially given their great edits from the July and August issues. Hopefully the remaining edits will be good and this issue can be saved, but I don't know there's still another Akrans edit looming.

Yes! I totally agree with you about Akrans/Jacobson AND this in the all-important September issue?! That's nuts! Thank God, the Natasha edit was saved by Brana Wolf's brilliant styling. Come on, Bazaar astonish us! Who else thinks the fonts look hideous? :yuk: They definitely need a change.

Wow, this issue is amazing! Thanks for all the scans, Faith! :flower:

BAZAAR SEPT 2006 GWYN mariacarla/lindbergh, gemma/jackosn, freja, poly

EDIT #1: Lily Donaldson shot by Nathaniel Goldberg. Very high-style / evening looks edited by Brana Wolf. Nice mix of silhouettes & ideas predominently in black but not exclusively. Lily has been a top 5 or better girl for 2-3 years now and she's all pro here, good in every pic even if Goldberg is by no means the best artist thats shot her. functional or better studio snaps. fave looks incl ice blue empire waist D&G, YSL black tunic/stovepipe trous, Kors paisley blouse & buffalo plaid minidress bottom [best look], versace peacoat. this is a good lead edit for sept with lily & wolf quite good and goldberg's pics serviceable but also not amazing. 7 of 10.

EDIT #2: mariacarla shot by lindbergh. now we're talking. Factory girl theme has short blonde bob of edie/sienna. and big glasses in 1 pic!! after far too many middling edits in recent bazaars, lindbergh is back on form- where he's one of the world's best. so many 90s edits in HB lindbergh blew me away with his taste & skill & this communicates similarly. intense & sleek industrial backdrops [nice factory pun]. maria is one of my fave girls of the last decade yet after her initial splash she doesnt get enough big shots like this. contrary to some people I have always liked her peroxide hair & I think everyone will agree shes stunning here, from face to poise to drama. and I am loving panos yiapanis' ultra modern futurist looks here all black very kinky some rubber some leather the mix of smokey constructivist sets, lindberghs brill silvery/blue lighting, maria's S&M doll vibe & these bladerunner looks is just dynamite, breathtaking. every page/look is great with maybe LV best. one of more striking fall edits in a US mag, a bit risque for HB even, and thats great & needed. 9 of 10.

EDIT #3: gwyn paltrow shot by lindbergh. 180 degrees shift from previous mariacarla shoot. suddenly we're back in polite english countryside vibe like madonna or stella tennant or even gwynny as seen in vogue. sure lindbergh shoots gwynny sweetly its a decent celeb edit but very unexciting. cover of newstand in D&G has some sweet gold tones. subscriber cover in RL even more sedate same gold tones. an acceptable celeb edit best look mcqueen but considering how sexy the mod mariacarla edit was this is sleepy in the extreme right next door. 6 of 10

EDIT #4 . liya shot by sundsbo. I guess wintour has decided liya is out of the rotation. frankly she looks warmed over here; whatever juice liya had 4 , 5 years ago in vogue is diminished and then some. adequate fall day looks here by george cortina but its also messy & warmed over. sundsbo tries but he's not given the material he needs here. flat. 5 of 10.

EDIT #5. gemma by daniel jackson. interesting. looks like eastern long island, amagansett I think? LOVE the fall day looks here by katie grand, superb styling. moschino blackwatch dress. RL tweed suit, armani suit. gemma looks sickly but i LOVE it!!! shes moody & waif like like shes 15 again! hot!! jackson is a photog to watch here & the LI scenery, gemma & grand really pushed this into high numbers. excellent moody understated adult & subtle fall shoot- 8 of 10

EDIT #6 natasha poly shot by camilla akrans. after a huge push about 2 years ago poly went down fast. she looks better here than she has in about a year but shes still scarily thin- she must ****** yet she is striking here like shes rarely been in 2005-06. akrans is an inteeresting photog. she shoots here in 'typical HB outdoor style' like luchford might have done & it works great!! brana wolf comes through with glossy evening looks that work with bony poly & the dramatic outdoorsy LA or LI locations. when poly is good shes really good & these compare with the best marija work, say, in HB & this akrans is a photog to watch, HB needs new blood like her & jackson & it does freshen up the recently moribund HB. good evening/outdoors edit. 7 of 10.

EDIT #7 freja shot by camilla akrans. great clothes in this edit these are some of the most cutting edge styles & proportions styled by melanie ward. freja is a great choice shes edgy but also sexy and strong & that goes double here. she really brings these difficult-ish looks to life- faves incl galliano gown, miu miu dress, missoni sweater, ferretti dress. she is hot. akrans once again does fine work with a slightly challenging tableau altho face it freja is like twice as good as poly at this point.
strong mix of now looks, major model & subtle but sensuous pics. really good. 7.6 of 10.

EDIT #8 denise richards by lubomirski. alexi is drawing the beat assignments lately!! i wonder what testino wld have done with beat up sex bomb/tabloid pitiful denise? well alexi tried to enervate things but she makes me puke in the swimsuit. the supermarket pop art cleaning liquid shot is the best by far far far. denise is gross and alexi cldnt cover it up.
4 of 10 except the supermarket pic is better than that, that pic moves this up to 5+ of 10.

VERDICT: well thats a brief tour through sept HB. Its not the greatest fall ish ever but in its own way its much more 'on' than most 2006 HBs have been.
the mariacarla edie lindbergh shoot was awesome, one of most high quality HBs in a year or more. [his best since the spaceship/cheung thing so long ago]. if lindbergh can keep this up its needed. the newer photogs like akrans and jackson did fine work too, of course helped by gemma freja & poly too. I was very impressed with the looks in lindbergh's, gemmas & especially freja's edits. and lily came thru as usual, even if liya & gwynny were sleepytime. what was good this time was quite good, and maybe a bit fresher than the sept vogue... I will have to devote another day or 2 to vogue & by next week lets see how annas sept shapes up vs glenda's refreshed HB. what was good this month was very good, and its the most encouraging signs HB has given us since 2005 at least. ONE STRONG THUMBS UP BUY IT!!!!

i think it's a really great issue this month.what i lke bout it is that it doesnt pretend to be a seriuos social, political, environmental read.it's al about fashion, fashion, fashion.vogue us's been too political lately.
question:
WHY IS BAZAAR THE ONLY MAGAZINE THAT DOESN'T HAVE A READERS LETTERS PAGE?(you know, that page where they have a previous mnth's cover and people's comments on it)

^lol could it be because they don't want ppl's negative comments on the britney cover on there?? :innocent:
think about it this way, i suppose. if all the comments were negative, they would have to make up some positive ones. do we really wanna read fabrications of the truth? i wouldn't!

^good point.otherwise it's bags full of envelopes with a scarlet L (lohan) in july and scarlet B (britney) in august:smile:

I was happy to see Gwyneth on the cover of HB. She is absolutely gorgeous both with and without makeup. She has many things to promote now--not just movies--including EL and a clothing line. She does a lot of modling now. She also has two movies due out September and October. When models are gracing the covers of magazines, what are they promoting, and why do they deserve to be on the covers? You don't necessarily have to be promoting anything to be on the cover of a magazine.

uh its been impossible to find this issue in paris- october issues are almost out no?
