US Harper's Bazaar September 2007 : Kate Hudson by Peter Lindbergh

HARPER’S BAZAAR
Pages: 574
Price: $4.50
Weight: 2.5 pounds

Hits: Many unexpected treats in the giant well. A plucky new and improved Courtney Love posing with Karl Lagerfeld and dealing with her new CD release, a new clothing line (?!) and the fake Chanel dress incident. “The fashion world, they don’t trust me anymore. And why should they? I looked like crap for years.” A fantastic satire of the celeb rehab visit as fashion story,

p. 554, starring a game Chloe Sevigny as a troubled starlet, alongside a sober look at the “See, I’m cured” phenomenon. For Marc addicts, Naomi Campbell sits in with her superdesigner friend and they pose in deliciously fun photos together. (Lord, we can’t stop looking at Naomi’s oiled haunch.) “What’s Modern Now,” p. 480, is a Bauhaus beauty. Witty little piece from Ashton Kutcher on how to dress like the perfect couple. And Tom Hanks’ wife, Rita Wilson, asks in an essay about the pressures on size: When did small become the new large?

Misses: Cover girl Kate Hudson as Daisy Buchanan is adorable, and the gowns are gorgeous throughout, but more than a few cost five figures. The creative director of Smythson as cover girl for the home section. How well known is Smythson to Americans?

News You Can Use: The great finds are few, but the Shopping pages pairing colors, “Fuchsia & Purple,” “Black & Navy,” are yummy, and the guide of 140 of the best accessories is good runway p*rn. “How to Wear It Guide” consists of top 10 must-haves, proportion advice for skirts, blouses and pants this season, and fall’s best coats. Expert Shopping Tips from Rachel Bilson and Lily Allen. The food diaries of Iman, Amy Sedaris and Gabby Reece with nutritionist’s analysis (Iman makes dinner at home for the family!)

^oh bazaar.. always a little too behind. :ninja:
I like the fact that at least is an actress playing the rehab/celeb editorial this time..
I want that sequined blouse that she's wearing, it reminds me of emmanuelle seigner's dress at Cannes..

thanks for the pics and info, MMA!.

I am so sick and tired of celeb inspired eidtorials and that one dosent look good at all,and i love Chloe, but she better than this.

oh yes they are for this one...
and imagine if they shooted this story in june...:o they must be disappointed by the Vogue Italia/Meisel's story...

I don't know why but I like those candids shots... maybe because i belong to the paparazzi era...
But actually this is always fun to see those candids prints in fashion magazines, as in real tabloids it's supposed to show us the "downs" of the celebrities... and their fashion faux-pas (or hits)...

what's this ???? I really don't get it....

Does someone know when the "candids/paparazzi" fashion editorials really started??? I remember the big story by Meisel in Jan.2005 for Vogue Italia, and I said "Genius"... but I can remember a Kate Moss/Testino story for Vogue US and a Angela Lindval/Vogue US story, too...
don't remember the years... maybe 2000/2001 (or earlier for Angela)... just images memories...

Blame it on the rain with Angela by Carter Smith (and ??)

{hfgl}
by the way, if someone's got the full story, I would be glad to have it... I just found some clippings but not the full editorial...

As you like it with Kate by Testino (and Roitfeld), Vogue US feb. 2000

it must be yet another contribution by Ashton.. last time I bought Bazaar, there was a very dull article of him covering NY fashion week.. 'you definitely want to be seen with a girl wearing derek lam' 'we're missing monday night football (at the MJ show)', etc .. I suppose this goes along the same lines .. I don't know what drove Glenda to invite him as a contributor.. he's not even an accomplished actor.. but anyway, I guess Glenda is quite the mystery these days. :ninja:

Yeah, eight covers of magazines....and a couple of songs later, Bazaar is on it. That said "Another one bites the dust" next to a rehab center is sort of amusing.

Seriously Bazaar, no. Rehab is everywhere, so the last place I want to see it is as some parody in a supposedly upmarket magazine that likes to pride itself on bringing achievable elegance to its readers.

In Bazaar, I want to see pictures of Chloe's offbeat clothes closet, I want to see her going through the process of inventing a new lipstick shade for herself, I want to see her experimenting with a radical new look. Stuff like that. I don't want to see some underpar 'performance' of a theme that bores me as a storyline when celebrities do it for real, never mind when they pose for it in the name of irony.

I love the cover! I love Kate her style and her personality!

I don´t get how somebody can dislike her just because of her parents - look at Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, Drew Barrymore and more, every single one has famous parent!

btw Sienna can have super style (for some people) but her eds and covers are always a bit boring... :flower:

I think Chloe pulls it off well but I'm afraid the media is making rehab and these issues more glamorous through these photoshoots...
