US Vogue April 2020 : The 'Beauty Without Borders' Issue by Tyler Mitchell

This is what happen when you try to recycle the same formula from last year's april issue but instead of Mikael Jansson you hire an overhyped wanna be fashion photographer. And I blame Beyoncé for this.

Mikael Jansson would've aced this shoot, I agree. And certainly the likes of Mario Testino and Patrick Demarchelier, who always killed their multi-girl covers. I'm neither over or underwhelmed by this, but I've seen better model covers from US Vogue over the years - without a doubt.

I like it! I’m the only one it seems but I think it’s a good cover.
I’m happy to see models and those girls are all relevant.
It’s 2020 guys! A very political, social-media sensitive era where comments from a random viewers who knows nothing about fashion and who doesn’t even buy Vogue count as much as people who actually buy the magazine and love fashion!

This is timeless, inoffensive, approachable...Politically correct! We want Glamour but the world doesn’t want to see young women being sexy and evoke glamour!

‘Nobody will jump on Anna for this cover! There’s body diversity, ethnic diversity and they are wearing the most democratic fabric of the world.

It’s funny to see a Jeans story on US Vogue...It’s usually what we got from VP and yet, it’s totally different from VP and I like it!

It could have been more elevated but I guess, we only have to wait for Rihanna to be on the cover for that!

Why do they look so...depressed? The idea is completely undone by how glum and sad the girls look on the main cover, and the art direction of the other covers is dreadful; so sparse and soulless. Way to ruin something that could have been amazing.

While I'm happy US Vogue is showcasing a wide variety of models, the outcome is a tad...sad. With a different photographer, this could have been heavenly.

I actually do like the cover!

The way-too-heavy styling is definitely not my cup of tea but at least there’s models (finally!) and much greater representation of POC than, say, those multi-girl covers a decade or so ago. Thank goodness the times have changed since that.

But still, what I’m craving here is the actual fashion and the fantasy one can create with it. I have this same problem every other month with US Vogue so what did I even expect, Anna rarely puts true gems out there anymore.

Tbh, I think that nowadays, only VP can afford to do fantasy, excess, glamour in the unapologetic way. That’s because the magazine has remained elitist. Vogue US is not elitist anymore...It sells the idea of elitism.

Agreed with everything you've posted except the above.
Again, who is Mika Schneider and why is she on the cover of American Vogue with zero international Vogue covers behind her name when all the other girls have booked at least one cover? Should have been Kerolyn or Miriam instead of her.

They've lost the plot, sorry! For me, this is yet another in a series of missteps. You had the Cardi B cover, the Billie Eilish multi covers, and now this. Styling is atrocious, photography is terrible, and the casting is so jumbled. I LOVE Imaan and Liu Wen, but why are they on this cover again? Who's idea was it to add Adesuwa? And who on earth is Mika Schneider?

Pack it in Anna, you're through here!
Ok Benn I was nodding my head with every word you said here until the Mika Schneider line! You take that back about my sweet angel Mika

Who in their right mind chose Jill Kortleve over Rianne? Choices.

But then again I'm not surprised, seeing how desperately bad dutch Vogue looks every month...

Why isn't Michael Bailey Gates shooting this.
Tyler sucks.

I think the Dutch Vogue editor chose Imaan, and how lucky she is to have her as a model. The other one I know is Rianne VR ( I love the hair of both).
