US Vogue December 2024 : Kaia Gerber by Steven Meisel

Anna would then be accused of being too woke if she put Alex Consani on the cover.

^ ngl I would never buy that, that model has the most bland, nondescript face, and non-aspirational body (height included), combined with a "personality" that is really just Jim Carrey expressions, a blaccent that is oh-so hilarious and a level of conversation centered on d*ck, sex and being grotesque and invasive in public spaces (you bet that if the cover comes with an interview, that would be mentioned somewhere).. it's just too vulgar. I personally still want to look at magazines to see beauty in a more elevated form. For noisy, crass people, I can just take the filthiest train line.

I love everything about this! Probably the first time I've liked Kaia as a model.

I'm into this, and I'm not even a massive Marc Jacobs fan. This level of fun, joy, and playfulness is precisely what's missing from fashion magazines nowadays. Those covers and story with Kaia Gerber by Steven Meisel are delightful, so vibrant and visually arresting. The hair from Gudio, as always, is an absolute sight to behold. What a master of his craft!

Not a fan of Kaia, but it's nice to see Meisel back at the cover of US Vogue after 15 years. Not going nuts for this, Marc's choice for sure. Guess Anna only agreed the cover choice because it's Kaia. She only gives to her, the Hadid sisters or Kendall. Would have been a dream if it was a new face or a model with lower profile. Lulu maybe, she was everywhere this year. The other good news is Grace

Lovely covers.. Out of all the nepotism models, Kaia is the one who shows professionalism even when she's out of the business. She may not have her mother's charm in front of the camera but her work is decent. Love the vibrance of this shoot, and how it resembled a Renaissance painting (first thing I thought.) Gorgeous hair from Gudio as well. Meisel still has it even after all these years.

I always like Kaia Gerber, I would have had a hard time recognizing Meisel's style here if I hadn't known better but I have to tell you that I don't mind the images. Anna Wintour evidently wants a Chanel by Marc Jacobs...

She looks overwhelmed and playing dress up. Just not the right model for the clothing or styling, and not the right clothing for her.

I'm not crazy about this cover even though the casting is superb, mainly because of the bad layout
(Kaia's name should have been on the side just after Marc's name + the bright colors are devouring the white masthead.)
but to be fair, this and Zendaya's cover are the standout ones for this year. It could also be a great issue to wrap up this year.

I really hope that Vogue brings back colors and maximalism on their covers for 2025.

I wasn't amazed by the cover or accompanying images when I initially saw them, but as ever with Meisel's work, I have no doubt that they will come alive in print. This whole issue looks wonderful based on the documentary which I enjoyed watching, even though I kept feeling like Marc's nails were going to suddenly jump out the screen and poke my eyes out .

The last December issue broke my near decade drought of US Vogue purchases and this one looks even better; especially the Carlijn images and the spread with Marc's house.
post-production is intentional of course. like what he did in VI with Lara and Meghan with the print on print story.
Always appreciate your posts and this made me look at Kaia's story differently .

Meisel's best work in months. Kaia's best work I've ever seen. Her as a cover star doesn't exactly feel relevant... maybe I'm ignorant of some big project of hers but I feel like she stepped out of the fashion/modeling scene to focus on acting, but that hasn't resulted in anything majorly successful yet, but good for her I guess to just jump right back in with a solo cover of Vogue US shot by Meisel
