US Vogue February 2006 : Drew Barrymore by Mario Testino

Thanks for the scans Nita!

I hate the cover though - so BLAH. American Vogue covers never ever impress me. But they do have nice editorials. I love that Drew shoot. It's just so sad that Conde Nast in America feel they have to put a celebrity personality on the Vogue cover just to get their ABC figures up.

hmm much better than expected..
thanks for the scans and welcome to tFS nita :flower:

Edward Enninful doing a story for Vogue....and it's tired? That seems a bit odd since he's consistently so strong at i-D. Actually, what the devil is he doing there in the first place?

Any good articles anybody know of? Their content has been less than impressive in recent years. No surprising or interesting talents they write about anymore. The stories have lacked repeatedly. I look at them but haven't felt the urge to actually buy one in about a year or so.

the styling is good scott...it's the shots...meisel does not usually reserve his best work for us vogue; makes one wonder why he bothers...

the sarah mower piece on rick owens is good...there's also a profile of painter dana schutz, aerin lauder throws a party for the amber nude launch at her home (her first), and william norwich follows her preparations; hamish bowles visits designer rachel riley's home, the link between winter sun and skin cancer...

Thanks for posting , loveed the editorial very beautifull:flower:

US Vogue is bad enough, but adding Drew to it is just wretched.

They need to quit recycling the same editorials over and over and over again. I think I'll change my earlier statement about them getting models on the cover being a miracle to the magazine being worth two cents being a miracle.

for some reason i like the cover the whole arrangement is beautiful

the cover is so boring...it looks like all the other Vogue covers. this one reminds me of the Reese Witherspoon cover and the Madonna cover, i'm not quite sure how, though...

I quite like the Tim Walker editorial. The Meisel editorial is so boring though.

im not surprised dita isnt on the cover. shes not a name, and us vogue only puts names on the cover

it seems caroline t and lily d have taken over as vogues favorite girls. gemma hasnt totally gone, but daria has

I was so excited to see it on stands here in
Canada this morning. It seems that in a lot
of cases, we get mags before they're on
stands in the US...fancy that.

It's true we do tend to get most of the latest fashion issues before the US - every Tuesday morning there seems to be something new to choose from. However, despite also being a fan of Drew, I had to pass on picking this one up today - I was not that excited flipping through it and there are too many great foreign Vogues to choose from lately. Thanks so much for the photos

I don't know what Barrymore did to deserve this cover... Last time was april. It's not even a year!
She idoesn't have taste, she is not a good actress, she is not even pretty!

^well said, i have to agree with you. i mean, did you see her at the GG, in that green gucci dress? she looked aweful, really......

Does Drew have a movie coming out? I'm perplexed by her as a cover choice. Isn't it her 2nd over in less than a year? Why? There are other more photogenic celebrities.

for Nita:

Good Karma is on its way for you! Thank you so very much for posting the cover and article.
I have too say, I personally love the cover and indeed the whole Drew Barrymore ed... it's a shame that the U.K version - which has been beyond awful this past year and a half - doesn't take a leaf out of Big Vogue. I mean, you could rotate a celeb and a model every other cover. I'm dying too know whom is the cover-star for the March ed of U.K Vogue - I have a feeling it might be Kate Moss (has anyone noticed she seems too have the monoply on the International Collections covers?) although, I do hope a decent celeb is picked instead!

Take care, much love.

Matthew. xx

Karma for you, Matthew:flower: What a nice post! I love seeing such polite responses:heart:
