US Vogue January 2009 : Anne Hathaway by Mario Testino

I'm very happy for Anne, I love her, and she really deserves this! At first glace the cover was beautiful and I thought YAY, she looked like a breath of fresh air personified, but at second glance she looks a little crazed.

On another note I really hope Trentini can finally break into US Vogue, I don't think I'd be able to contain my excitement if Anna finally lets her appear in an editorial.

I'll stop now.

I'm pretty sure the photographer is Mario Testino - the background reminds me of Kate Bosworth's from last year

considering it's US Vogue, we can consider this cover an evolution. I like Anne and she's gorgeous on the cover, if they keep on this way maybe this year can be better than last one.

Anne is adorable but she looks very ugly in this pic.

Yes, it's as if the phrase 'A New President' is put there to capitalise on the mood, to grab some of the glory, without actually getting too involved with the reality. And there's no hint of what angle this feature will take, so it seems an utterly empty phrase sitting on the front of a magazine, stating something we already know.

If the concept was that important to Vogue, the idea of a new President would be reflected in more than three words on a cover.

They must have been stuck for what words to use in that space, because visually, it balances nicely in word size, it's just a pity it doesn't really mean much.
Oh I loved your comment and I agree with you! I think that this 'new year with a new president' subject is something that we already know, and they don't try to make it relevant, all this few words were used just to complete the cover and balance it.

I like Anne, but I really don't like this cover. Her smile looks forced and she just looks so awkward. I would have liked to see her outfit.

Of all the actresses out there who should've gotten a head shot on a Vogue cover, they choose Anne? Nothing against Anne, I like seeing her on a cover but her features are just really too overwhelming.

I like the coloring and layout of the cover, but it's a shame she looks drunk.

I'm surprised it's her first cover. She is one of those safe, inoffensive but popular enough actresses with enough of a solid career -- if Kate Bosworth can get a cover  -- that one would think she'd have made it ages ago.

Her smile does look weird but the concept is fresh enough (for US Vogue) that I'm willing to overlook its flaws and be glad to see an improved version of the Witherspoon cover.

Nice, safe cover. Great for a Jan issue and i love the sunlight. But the text... 'become a redhead', 'no salt', 'more sleep' ... what is that about?

It would have been nice to see more of the Prada she's wearing.

I love, love, love Anne! She is so gorgeous and such a great actress. I don't think her smile is 'stupid' at all, it's beautiful. I'm really glad they choose her for the issue. :flower:
