US Vogue March 2010 : Tina Fey by Mario Testino

I hope the Vogue team is reading this thread. They need to keep this up

In Bangkok, I've got this issue today, quite exited, just fliped no time to concentrate but lot of interesting eds such as The Warrior way by David Sims, Military issue by Testino is fresh&lively and Straight from the hip by Norman Jean Roy, report by Sarah Mower about model's personal style influence the designers is wonderful, These will make my weekend perfect. six spreads of FENDI ad look stunning and a lot of new S/S ads.
PS.Love the Index, about the bloggers, love them all. This's the column I'll read after editor's letter.

Daria's ed is killing me!!!! OMG that's fantastic, i love the theme and the styling very solid.

Testino ed look so fresh and say garbage is a stupid critic
Excuse me? Listen this is not a fan forum, and everyone is entilted to their own opinion, i expressed mine! If you have a problem with the fact that i dont like Testino's ed then get over it, no need to act like a fanatic, and certainly no need to brand my comment as "a stupid critic"!

Daria's ed reminds me of the Nadja Auermann ed from September 1994... I believe that was the issue. Nadja had her platinum hair done up in a Grecian ringlet style and she even had a bow and arrow. It is one of my favorite eds of all time and I don't mind seeing it again, Daria-style.

I guess i'm a stupid critic as well, I don't see anythign special in Testino's ed:innocent:

Ok so i subscribed to Vogue online at the beginning of this month... And I choosed the option "bill me later" and I'm getting emails from Vogu telling me I need to pay it online. I still haven't recived my first issue. Will I get the bill by mail or is paying online the only way to pay when you subscribe online?

You expressed your opinion rather strongly, and how can someone who is a huge fan of his work not react? He has the right to, and i think its a lovely ed, and what you wrote is way to harsh.

^^ My goodness, i thought the point of these threads is to have as many different opinions as possible, and now i suddenly feel like i punched your guys kitten or something. But i can assure you when i wrote that, i didnt mean to insult TestinoFan or anyone that loves that ed, i personally dislike it. And i am not a Testino hater either, i just feel his work for the magazine used to be better.

Can't wait for my copy! I haven't seen any image from the eds! I want to be surprised, but according to what I've been reading, it sounds like a stellar issue

Hello everyone,

Differences in opinion are inevitable, and some are more passionate than others about their favorites or non-favorites. If you hold strong opposition to someone's words, please try to settle it in private. You all know that personal attacks do not belong on this forum. But most importantly, try not to let a fashion magazine antagonize you from someone else within the community. It's really not the most controversial subject in the world!

Keep Calm & Carry On

you most likely will get a bill by mail later on. vogue probably thinks it is easier for everyone to just pay online.

there's nothing that i haven't seen before in testino's ed but it's lovely, the girls look great. i wasn't really excited about it when i read the review, so it turned out better than i'd expected.
caroline's ed is surprisingly great.

Love Trentini's ed! She's so pretty.
And Daria's pictures are amazing, I love how the McQueen shoes are slowly becoming into the new Nina Ricci's boots.

I have to say that from what I've seen so far this feels like a strange issue. Or is quirky the word I'm looking for. Idk. ^_^ Here are my thoughts so far, anyway.

I sincerely wish someone other than Mario Testino had photographed "Military Issue". As much as I love Sasha Pivovarova and the gorgeous Liya, intended or not, the mood in this ed is all wrong for me. Even if it turned out the intention here was indeed to create a contrast between the military styling and the atmosphere, to me this particular attempt feels artificial and insincere. I think someone else with a less superficial vision would've been more suited for this particular ed. The rest is ruined for me by Isabeli F. :yuk: (Though I have to also be honest and admit I love Liya's Balmain cavalry jacket picture. Guess I have to credit Testino there for capturing the moment. :ninja:)

Coming from Terry Richardson, "Pitch Perfect" is another odd one for me. At least for an accessories ed it's okay, even if I'm not entirely convinced that Caroline was the most appropriate model for this, but otherwise the ed does very little for me. And come to think of it, there have been accessories eds in the past in US Vogue alone that have been done better and more creatively than this.

The biggest surprise for me, though, was the Daria/David Sims ed, which I really expected to hate, being quite tired of Daria and her many outdoors eds. But "The Warrior Way" is actually fantastic, and imho by far the best this issue has had to offer so far, ed-wise. :woot: Although I would definitely have liked to see more expression from Daria, the settings are breathtaking and the styling excellent (love the Alexander McQueen silk dress in particular; I only wish the Rodarte dress in #1 hadn't been... well, Rodarte. Not a fan). And there are some real fantastic shots here; the #2, #4 and #5 photos are worth a particular mention. Based on the review, I didn't think I'd end up saying this of Daria's ed of all things, but I honestly think this issue is worth getting just for her ed alone.

Meisel's ed speaks to me in no way at all (but then that isn't really a novelty for me when it comes to him), but I am definitely looking forward to see more of Elgort's ed! :flower: Really expecting something great there.

Oh, and thanks for the many scans, Mchunu!

The Wanderers
Ph: Arthur Elgort
M: Karlie, Abbey Lee & Patricia

scanned by me

Wasn't planning on asking but it seems to be the last editorial that hasn't been scanned so... Can someone scan 'From The Hip'? Thanks :)

I'd love to see the rest of the Meisel ed too :(...but seriously it doesn't matter :p.

I really enjoyed 'The Wanderers', Tonne got the styling so right for me, which isn't a frequent occurance. It's the carefree, slightly sparse (but not too much) Arthur Elgort style that I love and haven't seen since the early 00s . Thanks Mchunu :flower:
