US Vogue March 2021 : Gigi Hadid by Ethan James Green

Can’t say I like it. I hate it that you can see they lifted Gigi’s head from another shot onto this one.

This is atrocious. I don’t like Gigi but she is much better looking than this irl and omg they’ve even managed to make her look large??? Absolutely pathetic!
They didn’t make her look large, this was taken 10 weeks after she gave birth so she was larger than she normally is. She also speaks about this in the interview saying something along the lines of knowing she wouldn’t be in her usual shape and being ok with that and loving that we’re living in times where anyone who says something negative about that can “suck it.”

I’ve never cared for Gigi, but she’s capable of looking much better than this. It’s such a shame that this is the result of her first solo cover (which we all know she should’ve gotten a while ago).

The editorial is no better in my eyes, very much giving amateur hour.

It was quite predictable, Gigi's comeback after pregnancy, Vogue's latest obsession with motherhood.. but it's just so lifeless and unflattering. Gigi is a cute girl, to look like a model she needs everything perfectly done from the hair to makeup, styling and yes, retouching of the picture.. In this photo I only see a cute girl with some back pain and who needs to cut her hair.

I actually like it. They managed to elevate their cover without changing their usual aesthetic. This isn't what I expected from their magazine's creativity issue, but I'm okay with it.

Decent I guess, but pretty weak for March. However, this is the best March cover I’ve seen so far (especially coming after Vogue Italia).
And VI’s cover is not even for March. Imagine how bad that cover will be

Honestly, I have had enough of society’s fascination with a celebrity’s pregnancy. If the media really thinks we have progressed as a society than show me coverlines of women who would unapologetically declare that they’re not planning to ever settle down and have kids.

As for the cover? I actually found the Prada look pretty tolerable here. Gabriella picked the right item from that hideous yet sadly ubiquitous collection. Her face looks too intense there. It’s as if she’s suffering from constipation, made even worse by that awkward pose.

Usual tone deaf comment from a Hadid. Of course anyone who says something negative can suck it - she has always been able to stay in whatever shape she likes as she is a nepo model and rich. I suppose these two will just never understand that that is not the way it works for every other model and that is the exact reason their comments about "hard work" fall flat.

She certainly has significant privilege, but how is that relevant to her specific comment? IF anyone is criticizing her for not being at her usual size after just having given birth, than absolutely they should shut their mouths. If anyone criticizes other models for being a different size after giving birth, they should also shut their mouths. She's not demanding special treatment, she's basically just saying she's going to be unbothered by unkind comments about her body because she's made peace with it. Totally uncontroversial!

Ah thank you for the heads up! Mistook the Everyday issue as their March "Creativity" issue considering the finished product!

Preach. Vogue only fuels the stereotypes that pregnancy defines a lot of women by putting out these covers. But it is social and political – I doubt any magazine would ever promote child-free approach on their covers, it opposes population growth of the nation, and pretty much all countries want that (for economic reasons I assume). Pregnancy is accepted as the norm and is anticipated by the majority of women. I can only imagine the backlash someone would get by stating otherwise even without any bluntness, the conservatives would explode, and Vogue US is too careful for that - American society may be open-minded enough for such statements, but a lot of nations over the world are still living by the old rules.

I think US Vogue's maternity obsession is overstated. So far this decade, you've had 1 month were motherhood was specifically celebrated (January 2020). Considering that motherhood is a major component of many (most? I think it's roughly 85% of women in the USA who are mothers) women's lives, considering how life-changing and inspiring an experience many women report it to be, and how impactful it is on the the world, it doesn't seem odd or problematic that a magazine almost exclusive geared towards women readers would touch on the topic from time to time or even frequently.

Vogue may not explicitly endorse being child-free on their covers, but they certainly feature plenty of childless women. I'm almost certain they've featured women who are vocal about their choice to not be a mother. If you look at the past year or so, the only women on the cover who even have children are Gal Gadot, Gigi, and Frances McDormand. Meanwhile Kamala, Naomi, Lizzo, etc. etc. etc. are childless women being celebrated for their other accomplishments. Celebrating motherhood isn't regressive unless you refuse to celebrate women who aren't mothers, which is clearly not the case.

I like the cover at least one cover that speaks fashion, the Vogue logo reminds me of the Fabien Baron era of Vogue Paris & Interview, the "drawing" pictures are so cheap photoshop 101.

Passable as an editorial, terrible as a cover. Especially for US Vogue.
