US Vogue March 2023 : Erykah Badu by Jamie Hawkesworth

The text complimented the pic, very good!

who cares about this erykah? but then why in an allegorical style? it looks like carnival, i want the glamor back, and not these useless covers, not to mention the shared and useless editorials, like marcus, david sims, steven klein, timing walker, i&v, steven meisel!!!

Anna Wintour is really rebranding Vogue US, there is definitely a new aesthetic for recent years, i.e. Lorde October 2021, Saoirse August 2018, Kaia Gerber June 2021, Dua Lipa June 2022 and most recently Jennifer Lawrence October 2022.

If you have to say Relevant on the cover..... But if the choices were her or Jodie. I'll take Erykah. SZA would have been the most relevant choice tho.

I'm happy with this.

Gonna buy a Vogue after a long time.

I won't even pretend to have known who Erykah Badu was prior to this, and certainly won't pretend to like this cover either. Not one single element about the cover appeals to me from the choice of Jamie Hawkesworth to the styling. A total non-event for me.

I have to admit, that really made me laugh.

She's a nice surprise to see on the cover, but almost two decades too late... really. I'm at the point where nothing short of a kidnapper having a gun to my head would make me buy Vogue US, though.

No idea who this woman is. Pretty image but it has nothing to do with a fashion magazine. Bring back Testino.

:lol::lol::lol:

The comedy of this comment.
You might want to do some research on all the controversial things she said over the years and refused to apologise for. Ironically I think you'll find yourself liking her way more. She's actually very Trump-ish ideologically.

Also, Testino isn't coming back to American Vogue anytime soon. :P

Honestly, the cover is not so good, it's quite unflattering, the angles are not good, the light is not good. It's not an happy cover or glamorous cover... And i agree : it's time to bring Testino back !! (but i agree with you, it won't be in this life...)

I quite agree about how it looks. It's great that someone with a long career behind scored her first cover ever, but this isn't the Vogue treatment I expect. I would love to see glamour. Anna's Vogue now is too natural/normcore. Only we can expect that from Edward's and we need to wait a bit more to see what he coocked for March. Waiting for Meisel magic (and I don't care if it's studio again, at least is glamorous).

I adore Erykah Badu, but I'm not 100% on board with her getting a US Vogue cover. And although it's a pretty photo, it reminds me too much of Kaia Gerber's cover shot by Colin Dodgson in 2021.
