US Vogue May 2012 : Scarlett Johansson by Mario Testino

This is Scarlett's second US Vogue cover. You would think she's had more.

the cover wasnt opening here but I finally got to see it love the angle and colours too but like i said before the image they portray of her is gettin monotonous. Also the photoshopper went abit crazy with his tools

I feel like I've seen this cover a dozen times before. Tilted head, Grace Kelly hair, red lipstick, same type of dress. It's utterly boring. And the editorial is extremely random and cheesy. And it doesn't help that I have zero interest in Scarlett either. I really don't like anything about this. US Vogue was on a good path with the recent covers and cover subjects but this feels like a step back to me.

I absolutely agree with every word. For me this month cover of Vogue U.S. is the most disappointing this year.

I don't know why, but I'm not 100% sold on the cover. The cover stories, first of all, look completely uninteresting. But the cover looks too much like the typical vogue cover: Tilted, smiling head of an A-list actress.

Agreed. Beautiful, but too "plastic" and safe.

I mean, come on! Girl's playing a super hero, give her a chance to look edgy for once! I'm sick of Scarlett doing old Hollywood glamour.

I love the entire scheme but there`s something wrong with her face! It looks like a waxed figure.

This does indeed feel like a step backwards for US Vogue. Scarlett looks very beautiful, but the concept and composition of the cover has been overdone. The cover story looks a little bit silly to me, it must be the random leopard and Scarlett's fake cheesy poses. Hopefully. there'll be a Prada/Schiaparelli tribute ed.

It's not bad but definitely a step back from the more striking Jennifer Lopez cover.

Very Mad Men, obviously. The cover shot is a bit bland and her eyes look so weird. Can't wait to see the rest though.

so..boring....

she does look nice though. albeit made of wax. but nice

Scarlett looks really lovely on the cover even if it's sort of boring because the old hollywood glamour has been done before. It's a shame, I feel like Scarlett always does glamourous editorials, I'd love to see her do something edgy for once (but then again it's not really up to her is it? The magazines put her in ed's they think people want to see). But I'm okay with this editorial mainly because it has Mark in it!

What is the point of the cross-eyed leopard? I'm secretly hoping it's some sort of crazy Cartier product placement, because that would be less boring than simply using a big cat as a glamorous prop. And as far as I'm aware, they pee everywhere to mark their territory, so I don't find myself having aspirational fantasies of taking one to afternoon tea.

Maybe it's a tenuous visual connection between the zoo film and the superhero movie - a new editorial universe where she gets to keep a cat, and the Hulk scrubs up well when he wants to.

Sure its typical for them, but its still a stunning image of her, and the text is not crazy. I like it. ^ The shot was inspired by the movie "Bringing Up Baby" with Katherine Hepburn & Cary Grant, that's the reason for the leopard.

I'm not excited, her face looks a bit too photoshopped on the cover. there's something extremely bland about it.....

Omg yes! She always does the 40-50s pinup, vixen look. It would be refreshing to see her try something new but i expected this. It's like groundhogs day with her when it comes to covers/eds. Boring.
Also, that editorial is just awful. This is why I dislike Testino for US Vogue, its always so uninspired and boring. Hopefully there are some great ed's in this issue.

It's pretty, but I feel like I've seen this same exact cover at least a dozen times before from Vogue US. I mean, same expression, pose, layout, everything.

Also, for some reason I just can't get into Scarlett.
