US Vogue September 2023 : Linda, Cindy, Christy & Naomi by Rafael Pavarotti

I don't know what to say to that other than... that's a lot of emotion for Claudia.

indeed it is. I’m not obsessed with her but it does bother me when she’s snubbed from a period she was an intrinsic part of.

Claudia was my first favourite model and who, unintentionally, made me pay more attention to fashion as a whole.
a passion I hold up to this day.

I only gave you some facts that corroborate what I said about her being the most famous one.
maybe you didn’t know about some of them which only ads to your knowledge on models and therefore, fashion.

it’s what I love the most about this forum, I’m constantly learning something new either is about designers, collections, models, etc

I’m sure you have your favourites too

Of course I have my favourites, but certain people seem to pitch a fit every time their favourites aren't given the "rewards" (i.e. magazine covers) they think they deserve.... I'm not going to have a fit because, I dunno... just throwing a name out there, Rachel Williams wasn't involved in any "super"model nostalgia. Or the models that came "after" the supers aside from Shalom or Amber or Kate are basically ignored (where's Kristy Hume!!?!). Like, come on, a magazine cover doesn't deserve this. And I really don't think the fact that she isn't included isn't this conspiratorial snub!!! There are logical reasons for things sometimes, you know?

ALSO the director of the documentary is probably one of the most respected documentary filmmakers and has a number of truly acclaimed documentaries under her name (Harlan County, U.S.A -- the direct opposite of a supermodel documentary). I hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighly doubt she excluded Claudia for a nefarious reason. To create good documentaries or write good non-fiction books, sometimes you have to narrow the focus. Because, if Claudia was included... then you have someone shrieking "Well where's Helena Christensen?" "Where's Renee Simonsen?" "Wasn't supermodel first used to refer to Jean Shrimpton or Twiggy?" "Where's the real first supermodel, Janice Dickinson?" "What about Gia?" "Lauren Hutton had a bazillion Vogue AND Harper's Bazaar what about HER?" "What about America's sweetheart Cheryl Tiegs?" "What about Eva Herizigova?" "Isn't weird that Tyra isn't in the documentary? Must be because of Naomi?" "Why is there only one Canadian model, suspicious huh?" "Ooooh, remember Niki Taylor?? What happened to her?" "Who was that model in the November Rain video again?"

It’s supposed to be celebratory but it all makes me sad. This is a very sad looking shoot…
There’s no Glamour, no fun…
I feel for Linda because she looks uncomfortable and I see the discomfort. They made it even worse by having her layered in clothes next to the other women.

‘When Donatella did the reunion, we were all in awe because those women were stunning.

And I don’t think those women have much in common nowadays except their past, memories and the fact they are mothers.

It’s so weird…Those women have worked in the 2000’s and the 2010’s but here it seems like we are trying to recreate something 30 years ago as if the recent past didn’t happened.

I will buy it because it’s an important issue and I think that in the future this cover will reflect the obsession with the 90’s but tbh, it’s almost depressing.

Give me the same cast styled by Carlyne and I know the result would have been different.

‘So I guess Edward will style covers for US Vogue in the future. Gabriella and Carlos, your time is almost up!

Does anyone have an idea how many pages are we getting for the September issue this year?

Amazon clearly is lying lol.

as excited as I am—love any model cover—I do wish they had gotten different photographers or some solo covers for to differentiate the US and UK covers.

Great to see them, but sharing September covers is still a little bleak

Anna just showed all of us who's in control. That photo was a statement

I like the cover better. The dynamic looks more real. The UK felt... weird.

I don’t think so.. this is because he still there as European Director, and Anna chose the best cover image showing who is the boss. After he leaves he will join Grace and Phillys that only appears in the masthead

Watching the videos

it looks like it was shot of different colours but they made them all light blue in post production?

The Edward and Anna shot. In the video Edward is wearing spectacles. In the shoot they have become sunglasses?

I refuse to believe American Vogue is printing a September issue with 120 pages. Crikey!

No way it's only 120 pages. It looked thicker than that on the first preview we got of the stacks of magazines.
