V #56 November/December 2008 : Beyonce by Bruce Weber

It isn't really racy at all in my opinion.

But what is interesting about the ed is Meisel had never done something like this before, and it doesn't even look like his work. It's a breakthrough for Meisel :flower:

See the Steven Meisel Editorial That Was Too Racy for Italian ‘Vogue’

Editorials aren't often deemed too racy for a European magazine and then snatched up by an American one. But such is the case with Steven Meisel's recent shoot inspired by "dogging," the British term for engaging in sexually explicit acts in semi-public places, like cars or movie theaters. Starring Anna Selezneva, Daul Kim, Iris Strubegger, and Naty Chabanenko, Italian Vogue reportedly turned down the borderline-p*rn*gr*ph*c photos. But V magazine snatched them up, and they appear in the upcoming issue, hitting stands later this week. We have a peek at the entire spread (pseudo-cunnilingus shot included!) in the slideshow. As if we need to warn you, but this one is NSFW.

Oh my its even worse than the preview suggested!

I mean I understand that you're never really a fan of anything, but I actually think the editorial is great. The infrared is gorgeous, and while it may not be everyone's cup of tea, I think there's a lot to like about this story.

And Daul Kim turned it out, no?

I don't see anything shocking about that editorial, it just looks like a bunch of fit young models in lingerie, standing about and occasionally sitting on each other.

It doesn't really capture the spirit of dogging, which involves misshapen people wearing baseball caps having sex in cars while people film it on mobile phones, while others look on, still sitting in their own cars, having arrived prepared with 20 beers on their back seat, because their hobby is 'watching people having fun'. The sexual mood of dogging is the ugly random sordidness of it, which lithe young people cannot hope to convey.

I sound like a pro-dogging advocate. I've spoken to people who've done it, why they're into it. I haven't done it myself.

I like the visual effect in the editorial. Blair Witch and all that.

Interesting but not more. Thanks for posting though, I was really curious to see the whole thing. My excitement was so high then kind of dropped because of the preview and now it's a little up again.

zero emotions.
all what you can see that`s sham petting in the forest with models which even dont wanna each other...no passion-no hotness. and after all only one place for fake dogging (park or forest?- i dont really care), when Meisel could choose much more

That's it? I mean, I really like it but it's not that sexual!

sexual doesn't mean p*rno .... as nymag is trying to say ...
well there're actions now .... but really not what i expected.
disappointing ...... and i think the thread is gonna grow up really fast ..... with the "how can you not understand ?" vs "this is so dirty" ....

[ ok i had written an essay .... but it was boring ...]

I very often enjoy Meisel's sociologic fashion editorials but this .... but this is bad .... really bad
i'm not really prude at all .... so that's not even the sex which annoys me!

this is stupid !
oh and who loves this story but hates terry richardson ?
:innocent:

Taben, that doesn't mean you're tasteless if you like it ......
les goûts et les couleurs ne discutent pas. tous les goûts sont dans la nature blablabla ....
;)

There just seemed to be all this talk about this ed that I thought was going to be provocative and sexy and it really wasn't memorable. It didn't live up to the hype and I really wonder will people remember this ed years from now because of the pictures or because VI didn't publish it.

VI pulled it because they thought it was too much..so I guess people thought it would be overly provocative, but I like what I'm seeing

Alright, this has become my second favorite issue of V. Meisel's editorial is electrifying.
