Vacant is a new project that is brand new that already generated enourmous amount of publicity in NY during the fashion week. It's a concept of "moving store". NY is the first stop, since now, every six month there will be a new store set up in different cities for an entire month where local talents/designers ( not necessarily fashion, but largely covers in fashion/graphic design/art/culture/streetstyle areas.) would be showcased and various special events would be taken place. NY is the first and then it'll be in LA, London, Paris,Tokyo, Bruxell, and Stockholm. Not only local young talents would have great ops to the international exposure but it serves as a potential liasion to connect between different fashion/design/culture capitals. In NY, Keenan Duffy ( formerly designed for Slingky Vagbound, Biritish designer that is based in NY.) already had his show held in the store, ( Mercer/Grand), Zaldy's show was there too.
During the month of Feb. there'll be the NY fashion vs.LA fashion exhibition and NY fashion vs.London fashion exhibition and Michelle Mason collection showcasing in the store.
I personally was amazed how brilliant and innovative this concept was.
It surely is a gigantic, ambitious project and it's very close to my heart.
It's founded by a very close friend of mine.
anyone who's interested in it, feel free to go to www.govacant.com
btw, i'm not their pr person. though i surely sound like one.
i just sincerely thought the concept is just so brilliant and deserves to be known.
