Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2013 Paris

Outstanding collection! I actually think they moved a little from the last collection, there are some new things they did here. I love it!

Haute Couture has gotten really depressing this year. Riccardo Tisci taking a break was the final straw. At least Valli and Simons delivered (to me personally). Are 'pretty one-note dresses' what designers have to offer nowadays? I wish people like Yohji Yamamoto and Rei Kawakubo did HC collections.

Such a wonderful collection. There were a lot of stand-out pieces. One of my favourites was the white, cape look on Julia Nobis.

I don't care if it's pretty and well made, it's boring as hell. It's sad when the name holds more value than the clothes.

Yes boring and again the usual, but beautiful. I want more sexiness!!!

Indeed. I always feel like watching a Valentino show from few years back after seeing a new collection from these two.

But what makes me really nauseous is that we are going to see these dresses all over every red carpet possible.

I agree that each season reminds me of the previous season, but at least the craftsmanship is impeccable, to me anyway, no its not mr. Valentino, but they are satisfying their customer and I adore the romanticism of their designs:heart:
The white cape dress and knee length white coat:blush:

In my heaven there is a room devoted to nothing but Valentino Couture presentations. Season after season of delicate beauty. You may call it repetitive; I call it hypnotic.

Beautiful as always, but I think they are focusing far too much on evening as opposed to daywear. I quite enjoy these gowns and whatnot for their exquisite craftsmanship and visual delight, but I also enjoy seeing couture daywear, which they had focused on more in their past collections.

I wonder if their market dictates evening wear instead of daywear? I know that under Garavani, the Valentino haute couture had a great clientele for not only evening but daywear. Very interesting, if only we knew their clientele!

beautiful detailing and execution i will give them that. am i blown away? no. but it shows more variety than their last few collections. now if only they could add a few more colors to their palate.

Valentino is always safe & always classically beautiful. We shouldn`t criticise this as "boredom or repitition" - we should credit them for maintaining quality & the house`s image & tradition!

I prefer a new, similar beautiful collection every season over every second collection being a desaster (-> Versace etc).

This collection sucks. The tailoring is awful, the fit is awful, everything is awful. The only thing I like is the red ballgown, and that's it. And it's a simple ballgown. Really? That's it? That's what you design? A red ballgown? MGC and PPP have no understanding of the house's heritage, DNA, anything. It sucks. I miss when the critics were honest and said what they felt, rather than suck up to these houses because they're the top tier of shows to sit at. Because if they were nowadays, these people would constantly be slammed. I will agree that the craftsmanship is phenomenal. But that's because of the women who work their fingers to the bone on these clothes. And I'm not saying in any way that I actually like the design of the things they're crafting. I'm saying the craftsmanship itself is amazing. There is no personal story in Valentino's collections now. Valentino was constantly inspired by the glamourous movies he saw from the thirties with those magical musical number with the most glamourous dresses. That's what makes a great designer, someone who's able to make it a personal story as well as a regular story. These people can put as many historical references in their collections, but they will never be great designers. In the eloquent words of Sweet Brown
