Just got back and I am quite disappointed. I bought the pea coat with the heart buttons and the black, woolen top with the kind of 'twisted' V-neck, which is a good basic piece. These were the only two pieces that fit me. The pea coat is really nicely done and made of a good quality and if I am tired of the buttons, I can still replace them. Also these were the only two garments which had an acceptable quality.
I've been at H&M when Karl's and Stella's stuff was offered, but the quality has never been that poor like this time. I wish they would have come out with a smaller range but with a higher quality.
The dresses were awful and I was so disappointed by the trench, which I really, really wanted so badly. It was only offered in black, made from a fabric that attired white fuzz even before being worn plus it was also very thick and heavy. I would have appreciated it being made of a light-weight taffeta-like fabric to enhance the puffy effect. The powder-pink blouses were quite nice and I was thinking about getting me one, but since one button came of when trying it on, I changed my mind. And I have no idea, why they offered these ridiculous t-shirts and these awful shoes. Plus: the trousers were the best example for vanity sizing - not that they would have been worth a fit.
The tuxedo for guys looked cool and quite well made, even the wedding dress looked fine - it is just not my style, way to many 70s-ruffles.
Believe it or not, when I arrived at H&M in Salzburg/Austria before 9 am, only a handfull of people was waiting to get to see the collection. It was a totally relaxed shopping atmosphere. I guess Victor & Rolf is not a household name.
Nevertheless, I think H&M has to reconsider their guest-designer-strategy for next year. The quality has to improve, the designers must insist on the quality issue - it's their name that makes the promotion for H&M, otherwise it's not going to work for none of the partners.
Recapitulating I have to say, that I really like Victor & Rolf for what they do in the fashion circus, but that they failed to transfer their ideas to the H&M customers - if they had any. All they accomplished is a negative advertising campaign for their own line, only their perfume might be promoted with the small tester that came along with a purchase. I think, those people who think to making busines on ebay by hoarding will face a huge loss, resulting from their greed - not even the most loyal H&M fan wants this kind of poor clothes. I am thinking back wistully to the Lagerfeld and Stella-line for H&M: I am still getting compliments whenever I were on of Karl's h&m dresses and actually I am wearing Stella's jeans today, which fits me perfectly and still looks like brand-new. But obviously everything is just about picking the right pieces for oneself. Maybe that's the crucial point with fashion - regardles of which designer or fashion chain, buget fashion or haute couture.
