Hi everyone!
I think we already had a thread about this but I can't find it anymore so I was going to ask you whether you think it works or not?
I've bought some but I don't know how to apply it... instead of moisturizer?
On the whole face or only on the scars?
Thx :flower:

I don't think it's a good idea..
You should try to just take it orally from what a nutritionist once told me.
If you are trying to get rid of those flat red marks, you have to wear a broad spectrum sunblock and use something with kojic acid.

I've used it for a little while, but I'm not sure if it has worked. It's fun to put on though.

I think the other thread is titled "Facial Scars".

i use vitamin e as a moisturiser purely because i love it.the key is it never leave an oily surface and make sure its completly rubbed in :flower:

i've heard it's a myth that vitamin e can be absorbed topically, that is through the skin

therefore if that is true it wouldnt help with blemishes and acne scars?

it makes my skin feel great anyway whatever its doing or not doing :D

I was really scared that it would make me break out. But strangely it never did. I may have even broke out less while using it. Am I imagining it?

I think you're right! I've been using it now for more than a week and my skin has improved :D

theres something called ocm (oil cleansing method) i couldnt find a thread on it and was going to start one but im out tonight and id like to see whats said and respond as im keen to try it.but some oils are good for your skin and wont make you break out but improve it,im guessing vitamin e is one of them

have you tried vitamin e oil ?

your not really going to break out because it's not like you are rubbing cooking oil on your face.
if you want moisturization, use what i use and that's decleor ylang ylang oil.
it moisturizes without being greasy at all. the ylang ylang is the formula for oily/acne skin. they have others too. i felt it helped purge the bad things in my skin.

not as part of the ocm method but after cleansing at the moment i use vitamin e oil as my moisturiser just making sure there's no oil residude left on my face, and personally i love it.

Is it simply a carrier oil with vitamin e in it? and if so, what carrier oil?

I have no problem using oils on my face, I've used Vitamin E and it makes you glow but I haven't used it consistently and for long enough to say whether it fades scars.

Sorry, I don't know. I just bought it at Target :P

I was curious to know if it worked too. A while back ago I found an internet site doing a controlled experiement to see if Vitamin E oil improved the appearance of scars. I think the study ruled out that Vit E actually caused irritation of the skin rather than improving it. You might want to try googling it.

Iv'e also heard that Vitamin E is good for stretch marks? Anyone got any experiences with that? I am planning on getting some Vitamin E Oil, after seeing the effects of Vitamin E based creams have had on my skin:smile:

I googled Vitamin E, and in an experiement they had come to the conclusion that
"Conclusions: These results indicate that 20% vitamin E ointment suppresses contact dermatitis by stabilizing keratinocytes, concomitantly with novel, interesting properties."

http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=14370745

Basically "contact dermatitis" are changes in the skin as a result to exposure to allergenic or irritant substances. (i.e not a good thing)

(Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contact_dermatitis)

And keratinocytes are the major cell type of the epidermis, making up about 90% of epidermal cells (the outer skin layer).

So in plain English Vitamin E (according to the test above) lowers the effects of changes in the skin (due to irritant substances) by stabilizing the outer skin layer!

Sounds good to me ^_^

Apparently Rosehip oil is best for stretchmarks.:flower:

I used vitamin E before, but not that long. Maybe I should give that a whirl again, the desert essence tea tree blemish stick works best for my skin though.

Why would using Vitamin E on the face not be a good idea? I just bought some at Trader Joe's the other day. It doesn't seem to irritate my skin as much as my moisturizer was (I have been using an Aveno one and it was irritating my skin). My skin also hasn't been dry throughout the day like it was with my moisturizer after a few hours in the cold.
