Vogue Australia December 2014 : Gemma Ward by Emma Summerton

Thanks a mil for posting Oxymore!!! :flower:
I like the styling of Gemma's ed, but not the images. Self Love was done much better, I think mainly because it's got that 90's sci-fi vibe. Again the styling actually follows through - the contrast between fantasy and reality. Lindsey's editorial in the corn plantation is amazing.

i think they tried to make her look the way she did before departing from fashion... and the editorial is just beyond bad... I am sure we will see a lot more of her and if she gets to work with Meisel they will do some magic...

Self Love was done so much better than Gemma's ed imo. I feel like she was treated as a celeb instead of a model... you know, the way mags make them pose in safe, blands eds most of the time. I just wish she'd switch places with Janice.

Janice is owning this issue so far, she killed it.

The Future Is Bright
Model: Lindsey Wixson
Photographer: Will Davidson
Stylist: Christine Centenera

Forget the futuristic edits, Kansas native Wixon in the field is pure love! If this editorial was in Vogue US it'd be their best spread in years. Divine!

Lindsey's editorial is worlds apart from the cover story, and not just in terms of location.

Even more in love with the cover and the editorial of Gemma now  I want to buy this ASAP.

Self Love is wonderful! Thanks for sharing, Oxymore! And loving Gemma's vid, thanks, AL92!

Looks like a good issue to me!

I can see why some people aren't fond of the overly 'shopped look of Gemma's cover and spread but I quite like it. She looks like an android. I think I slightly prefer the softer focus in Janice's spread, though, because it's a little more unexpected. Nicole Bentley's style of photography suits the futuristic setting surprisingly well!

I actually do like the styling in Gemma's cover editorial which is surprising given I find Christine's aesthetic exaggerated and reaking of desperation while Emma''s work is all over the map yet never makes a strong statement.

however, Gemma's so-called comeback is rather anti-climactic when VOGUE Oz uses what might as well be an image of her from nearly a decade ago. If someone simply showed be these uber photo-shopped editorial, I would assume these were unpublished shots from her modeling hey day.

It's not due to the intentional lack of aging or appearance of wrinkles but lack of maturation in her facial features. Her face/ facial features now look different and is shaped differently, at least photoshop her face as it appears in 2014 not in 2004!

and WHAT was the point in this ridiculous Zen Barbarella editorial theme!?! Yes certain aspects I really enjoy, the metallic, almost abalone finish on the interior walls and metallic highlights on the cover etc are pretty but this lack luster editorial did warrant this kind of budgetary extravagance. Never mind the fact this Space Age theme has been done to death and completely failed to highlight anyone should care or it's relevancy to the year 2014.
