^ are you kidding me? the belgians have done more for fashion (and continue to do so) than poland, ukraine, greece, netherlands and portugal combined.. add contemporary spanish fashion in there too.. man, they've done more than the brits in my eyes *sets benn on fire* (just kidding - but not entirely). If there's a tiny country with insignificant population that needs a proper publication with all types of honors, that's Belgium. They just need to make sure it goes on sale internationally, past potential belgian consumers.. I'd buy it.. I'd buy Belgian Elle every month if I knew where (they had this AF Vandevorst special some time ago.. who can say that? nobody!).
It's actually outrageous Belgian Vogue, of all things, comes out as a pitiful supplement and out of all magazines, a supplement for freakin' Vogue Netherlands. It's like Vogue Nippon, "the supplement", for Vogue Hellas, explain? .. but this world is all kinds of irrational nonsense these days so, okay...
Was only hyperventilating, but still!
Look, I only said Poland because the reach would be greater, and other titles in that country seem to be doing rather well. It's always about commercialism for Vogue anyway. They'll want to monetise a Vogue Belgium, and I doubt whether that will be possible.
Japan has been one of the most consistently progressive countries when it comes to fashion, and of course they've given fashion A LOT (actually, continues to give!), but have you leafed through Vogue Japan? That same prowess simply doesn't translate throughout that magazine at all. ID Japan, yes, but not Vogue. So you're in for a rude awakening if you think Belgian Vogue (or the supplement) will mimic or equate (stylistically, at least) what we got from Dries, Margiela or Demeulemeester. Especially if it's a supplement which must be created from from Karin Swerink's fold.
Oddly enough, the Vogue brand in the Netherlands must is doing quite well which beggar belief. They have Vogue Man, Vogue Living, and now Vogue Belgium. And whether I'll want to admit it or not, it must start with the popularity of Vogue Netherlands....
