how can you put jennifer garner and hilary swank in that list amongst those models? bizarre

I agree in general about the models should be on the cover, with the odd exception of someone who's interesting and unique like Sofia C was on French Vogue earlier this year, Chloe Sevigny, Maggie G i.e. someone stylish, but not over-exposed to the masses (like Nicole Kidman for example)

You know, as much as I wonder what exactly Britney is doing these days, I don't regret that she graced the cover of Vogue.. she isn't a model...and she certainly isn't an icon in terms of fashion, but she definitely WAS an American Icon and America's pop darling at that point in time, and I think she is a HUGE part of American music and pop culture history, if not worldwide. She was a cute, hardworking, all American girl with catchy music and an enormous fan base... I really think she deserved it.

And all this is coming from someone who is not even really a huge Britney fan lol

But Vogue isn't a part of pop culture history, she's probably been on the cover of every other magazine so let there be one magazine for those that don't want to see her...

I think that VOGUE AMERICA focuses too much on celebrities,including those who can´t be considered celebrities (Paris Hilton, Duff sisters and so on), this does not happen in VOGUE italia/españa or in the french version, they really focus on the models,designers and collections.I know this because I live in France but I travell to Spain and Italy nearly every two months . I don´t know much about the VOGUE UK so that´s why I haven´t mention it. I certaintly prefer the European versions of VOGUE.

i don't like the fact that US vogue (pretty much all US fashion magazines in fact), puts celebrities on their covers instead of models, not to mention they're overly focused on celebs. that's why european fashion mags are so much better.

and to answer the question of dancinggellecat, i'm not sure about vogue. but marie claire did have tom cruise on their cover once. thought it was refreshing.. kinda.


anyhoos. back on topic. if vouge insist on using celebrities on their cover, then i would like to see:

models of course
scarlett johanson (so young yet so glamours)
kate winslet
christina ricci ( i think her beauty is very underrated)
sopia coplla
julianne moore (she is very beautiful)
sarah jessica parker
kate moss
jem (the singer, i believe gap just signed her for some print ads?)
natalie portman
queen latifah would make an interesting cover.

also. wouldn't be interesting if they start putting designers on the cover? i think that would be fantastic!


i wouldn't want to see:
britney, xtina, mary kate and ashley, lohan, duff, lil kim, most hip hop / r&b female artists, overrated movie stars like julia, charliez, halle. etc etc. you guys get the idea.

I think only models of the past or present or really fashion forward people.Some actresses do well,like Nicole Kidman and Sienna Miller but actresses like Angelina Jolie ,Drew B. and others definetly shouldn't.They have no style,Angelina doesnt care about fashion at all.Read any of her interviews,she makes a pretty picture but should NEVER be in the ultimate fashion mag or any fashion mag.
I'd like to see Kake Moss on the cover with Gemma
I'd cringe if I have to see Jessica and Ashley Simpson on the cover together or apart

Yeah. US VOGUE focuses too much on what UsWeekly and InTouch focus on. I always thought VOGUE was a fashion magazine, not a celebrity magazine.

I think only models and actresses who can actually ACT and are stunning in the fashion-sense should be on the cover. Otherwise, no.

I predict that Jessica Simpson will be on Vogue during the summer when Dukes of Hazzards comes out.... ggaahhhh

Mostly models, but I wouldn't mind seeing a (very tastefully selected) actress every five issues or so... But I stress tastefully. (Par example, Hilton girls, Elvis women, Bush twins, Olsens, Duff sisters, Lohan... not my idea of tasteful.)

^Thats the way it used to be. And on the occassion that they would put a star on the cover, it would be one who was known for thier wonderful sense of style (Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Cate Blanchet, Winona Ryder) and not just on the cover to plug a movie (Sandra Bullock, etc.)

in my opinion, I think VOGUE is a fashion magazine so models are supposed to be on the cover....but somehow now all actresses are on every issues... like these 2 lastest one with Sandra B. and Drew Barrymore... They just have movies coming out so that they're on the cover...it's so ********... I'd rather see models on it

I'd rather see models too! Sandra Bullock is beautiful and an amazing actress but she isn't a style icon! The last time I remember a model being on the cover was back in early 2002 when Gisele wore that t-shirt with the heartshaped amaerican flag and jeans. Actresses/singers should only be on the cover of vogue when they are truly style icons or they've really DONE something!

But since Anna Wintour doesn't care what I think about who should be on the cover then actresses I would enjoy seeing:
Mary-Kate & Ashley
Reese Witherspoon (again)
Sarah Jessica Parker (again)
Kate Bosworth

i see your point. but still Vogue isn't pop music, it's all about the fashion (or it used to be) so therefor i can't stand the idea of her on the cover.
not saying that i don't like brit's music, love to shake my butt to it, but
girl ain't Vogue! and never been.
