Vogue France March 2025 : Addison Rae by Mario Sorrenti

Pardon my ignorance but who is she?
she was one of the most popular TikTokers (if not the most popular) about like 5 years ago getting a lot of media coverage but has since pivoted to music and acting. she signed to a record label last year and this is promoting her latest single/upcoming album

she's been working with a bunch of fashion people though and featured in Vogue before, Marc Jacobs and Saint Laurent campaigns, Interview Mag's Mel Ottenberg has been the creative director for some of her videos, was on the cover of Katie Grand's Perfect Magazine a few months ago too etc. the industry seems to clearly like her so I guess this isn't entirely shocking

The dirty ballerinas totally ruins the cover.. after Loli and Natasha this is a downgrade and shows this is Vogue France and not Paris anymore. Who is in charge of the magazine?
On the february issue on the credits section the global contributing editor is Claire Thomson Jonville and the redactrice en chef is Sylvia Jorif but on the editor's letter there was Claire's name

The only person who ever made dirty ballet flats part of their personal style was Amy Winehouse, but saying that, it probably won't be long before fashion will be recycling her look again in a flat, synthetic form.

Claire is in charge, head of editorial content replaced the role of editor-in-chief. However Vogue France kept its other EIC's who I believe work more like directors (e.g. fashion director, beauty director), in the past French publications would usually have an EIC and then EIC of beauty, EIC of fashion, EIC of jewellery, etc. However Sylvia seems to be the only one left for VF.

The dirty ballet flat is living rent-free in my mind too... why not just have her be barefoot? She's in pajamas anyway, basically. Oh well, it's too much to expect any sense from these people.

If the former big 4 wanted to featured pop stars, Chappell Roan should have been in place of Ariana, and Doechii in Tyla's. Never heard Addison's music, but the TikTok background scares me a bit to take her career seriously. But well, Youtube, here we go, maybe she's great. Thought the dirty shoes, just that small detail, drags this cover to hell. When dirty clothes is part of the fashion fantasy (like VI Sep 09/June and Aug 2010), works for a narrative. But when looks accidental, is total yikes. I'll pretend than Loli Bahia's cover was the legit first issue under Claire and not this one.
