Vogue Germany January 2018 : Gigi Hadid by Patrick Demarchelier

Yasmeen and Christy gave everlasting life to that tacky catsuit (But the one Versace cover is with Christy and Naomi in the leotards)… Gigi on the other hand— comparing titans to a mere commoner is a tad unfair… And I like Gigi, but she’s so limited that they need to play to her strengths: Just cast her as the effervescent blonde bombshell with hints of soft smoulder every now and then and she’ll be tolerable. Push her any further and this is the amateur wreck you’ll get, especially when it’s Patrick on auto-pilot these days. He simply does not seem to care, and likely all the shots are taken care of by his interns. Lowered expectations and all that. And it’s not just her— all the new girls are of the same, very limited range. Just cast them to look pretty and cool.

The only shots that works are the B&W ones— even the gold chainmail gown, which should be fool-proof, looks a sad, cheap wreck here... The cover is such an odd select LOL I guess when the layout and color-palette is so sickly, it really doesn’t matter that Gigi looks like some InstaGirl cosplaying her tribute to the Supers in her rich mum’s closet (with the weird windswept-hair that looks like an error courtesy of the PS’s Smudge tool).
